BRIDGING THE GAP

As broadcasters worldwide continue their migration to IP-based infrastructures, we’re witnessing a technological revolution that promises unprecedented fl exibility and effi ciency. However, this transition isn’t without its challenges, particularly when it comes to resource management across multiple studios or locations. At FOR-A, we’ve recognised a critical pain point in this evolving landscape: the need for seamless resource sharing in complex, multi-location setups. Our response to this challenge is the pioneering Hierarchical RDS (Hi-RDS) solution, which we believe is a gamechanger for the industry.
The crux of the issue lies in the limitations of traditional registration and discovery systems (RDS). While these systems work well within isolated environments, they struggle when tasked with managing resources across multiple studios or OB vans. This limitation can lead to confl icts, ineffi ciencies and under-utilisation of valuable equipment. Our Hi-RDS technology, showcased in our RDS Conductor, addresses this problem

What sets our solution apart is its ability to integrate seamlessly with existing infrastructures. There’s no need for a complete overhaul of current RDS setups or broadcast controllers. This means broadcasters can adopt our technology incrementally, expanding their IP capabilities at a pace that suits their operational and budgetary constraints. PRIMA, the Platform for Realtime Integrated Media Applications, is a versatile software platform on show from Pebble in Hall 8. industry where interoperability is key to long-term success. The positive reception to our Hi-RDS technology at the 2024 NAB Show validates our belief in its transformative potential. Industry partners have also acknowledged its signifi cance, with Lawo’s Axel Kern noting how it “broadens the horizon for MoIP”. I’m excited about the possibilities our Hi-RDS technology opens up for broadcasters. Pebble is showcasing its full range of fl exible Enterprise products
failover, redundancy and disaster recovery capabilities. Pebble has partnered with Nvidia to bring the agility of PRIMA to the Nvidia Holoscan for Media initiative. Based on standards like SMPTE ST 2110, AMWA NMOS, RIST, SRT and NDI, it aims to provide fl exible media environments while minimising resources on a shared compute platform.
Pebble is also demonstrating the latest iteration of its playout system, which provides a consistent approach whether
in best-of-breed component architectures or using all-in-one channel engines. With most broadcasters currently in the
