28 ADDRESSING RISING COSTS
Rising costs related to the delivery of video, and the need to improve effi ciency and optimise processing requirements, will be among the primary themes of Zixi’s participation in the Showcase Theatre today.
The live video-over-IP specialist indicates that its solutions – which include the Zixi Broadcaster universal live media gateway – can signifi cantly reduce the delivery cost-base. John Wastcoat, SVP BD and Marketing at Zixi, asserts: “We have the lowest TCO in the market for a number of reasons, including high-performance networking, leveraging DPDK to achieve remarkable throughput effi ciency improvements while utilising only a fraction of the processing power. This allows a Zixi Broadcaster to deliver three times the amount of Zixi traffi c versus previous versions, and as a result the associated cost of compute is reduced by two-thirds.” Increased monitoring and automation capabilities, as well as new partnerships with DRM vendors for security and rights management, are among the other customer priorities
to their businesses, [such as how the resulting reduction] of infrastructure and cloud costs has enabled them to invest in other parts of the business, further monetising content”. Brooks and guests are also likely to explore how “moving from satellite to IP [allows customers] to deploy workfl ows more rapidly and fl exibly – in hours instead of weeks or months – and immediately start realising revenue”. With Zixi participating in Showcase Theatre thought leadership events for the third year in a row, the company is evidently in no doubt about the value of this part of the show.

“Not only do we get to contribute what Zixi and our customers are doing [in terms of] shaping the future of media, there is also the opportunity to hear from other top brands and their leaders,” says Wastcoat.
