Figure 1: Representative facial macrophotographs evaluated using CieLab software demonstrate a visible reduction in brown spots. Quantitative analysis indicated a statistically significant decrease in the mean value by 3.77% (p = 0.0001) after 42 days of supplementation with CCmc compared to baseline
and anti-glycation properties.12,13,14 It inhibits NF-
kB activation, reduces reactive oxygen species, and modulates cytokine production, making it a powerful ally against oxidative stress.15,16 For skin health, curcumin neutralizes free
radicals, supports collagen integrity, and calms inflammation.17
However, curcumin’s potential
has been historically limited by poor solubility and low bioavailability—until microencapsulation technology unlocked its promise.18,19,20
Microencapsulation: unlocking potential One of the greatest challenges in nutraceutical formulation is bioavailability.18
Many active
ingredients, despite their proven benefits, struggle to deliver results because they are poorly absorbed, unstable, or unpleasant in taste. Curcumin is a prime example: its low solubility
and rapid metabolism have historically limited its efficacy in beauty-from-within applications.19,20 Lubrizol Nutraceuticals addressed this
challenge with Curcushine™ microcapsules (CSmc), using patented microencapsulation technology to deliver curcuminoids in a water- dispersible format while maintaining the original natural extract’s curcuminoid proportion— enhancing absorption and systemic delivery without altering their chemical structure.22,23 Similar principles apply to other essential
nutrients. Iron, for instance, supports cell function and collagen synthesis but often causes gastrointestinal discomfort and metallic taste. Through microencapsulation, stabilized iron

ingredients can mask off-taste, prevent oxidation, and improve absorption, enabling consumer- friendly formats such as gummies, sachets, and beverages without the side effects traditionally associated with iron supplementation. Similar to iron, magnesium is an essential
mineral involved in over 300 enzymatic reactions, playing a critical role in skin barrier function and hydration. Despite its importance, magnesium presents formulation challenges. Highly reactive and poorly soluble, it often requires large doses to achieve efficacy, compromising convenience and palatability for consumers. Advances in particle engineering have
transformed magnesium supplementation. Microencapsulation technology enables high elemental concentration in compact, enjoyable formats such as orosoluble sticks and gummies. This approach enhances bioavailability while ensuring a pleasant sensory experience, supporting adherence in daily wellness routines. Micronization and microencapsulation are
core technologies driving modern nutraceutical solutions. These techniques address unmet needs by improving bioavailability and dispersibility, enhancing stability against oxidation and moisture, and optimizing sensory properties such as taste masking and texture control. They also enable versatile applications
for delivery formats that fit today’s consumer lifestyles. This integrated expertise positions innovators as leaders in nutraceutical development, offering not just ingredients but technological platforms that transform
formulation challenges into market-ready solutions.
Clinical validation: science behind the glow The clinical validation of CCmc microcapsules was designed to meet the highest standards of scientific rigour, ensuring that observed benefits were both statistically significant and clinically meaningful. The study employed a monocentric, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled design—widely recognized as the gold standard for nutraceutical efficacy trials. Fifty-seven healthy women aged 21 to 50
years participated, with an average age of
43.All presented visible skin imperfections such as fine lines, uneven tone, acne marks, and pigmentation spots. Inclusion criteria ensured stable hormonal status and absence of dermatological conditions or systemic illnesses. Exclusion criteria included recent cosmetic procedures, antioxidant supplement use, or medications affecting skin physiology. Subjects were randomized into two groups:
one received a daily sachet containing two grams of the active formulation delivering 500 milligrams of curcuminoids; the other received an identical
placebo. The intervention lasted six weeks, and all participants used the same neutral topical cream and cleanser to eliminate external skincare influences. Researchers implemented multi-dimensional assessment techniques to capture both visible
