Welcome to the November issue of Personal Care magazine. This issue includes a review of the recent 35th
for which I had the great pleasure of attending in Cannes, France. Cannes, of course, is
famous for its glamorous film festival held at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès, red carpet and all.
The annual Congress was not completely
dissimilar to a film festival – being an occasion for prizes, prestige, glamour, and celebrating and honouring the best of cosmetic science from all over the world. My review, which starts on page 21, aims to
capture the essence of the Cannes event, from keynotes to poster sessions, breakout seminars and award winners. Elsewhere, there is an interview with Mike
Sohn, general manager at global regulatory compliance consulting firm REACH24H Korea. Sohn discusses the latest global cosmetic regulations and what appears to be a trend

towards divergence and protectionism. He also discusses K-beauty and this month’s
IFSCC Congress,
in-cosmetics Asia trade show in Thailand, where he will be one of the Ask The Experts panellists and Spotlight on Biotech Beauty award judges. Sohn was also one of the judges for in-
cosmetics Asia’s 9 Faces of the APAC Beauty Industry 2025 awards, supported by Personal Care magazine. The list of the ‘9 Faces’ winners (see News,
page 11) is rather prestigious and we will be delighted to meet these luminaries, as well as friends old and new, in Bangkok. At stand S92, will be exhibiting the brand new,
inaugural Little Book of Upcycled Ingredients. Don’t miss your chance to pick up a copy - once they’re gone, they’re gone. We will also be exhibiting at SCS Formulate
(stand 1013) in Coventry, UK. To mark Britain’s leading personal care ingredient show, we carry a fascinating article by trade association Cosmetics Cluster UK that examines whether it is possible to manufacture, at commercial scale, a beauty product from raw materials sourced from domestic production. Enjoy the magazine.
