BASF makes first DMAPA shipment to Galaxy
BASF has delivered its first shipment of biomass-balanced BMBCert 3-(dimethylamino) propylamine (DMAPA) to Galaxy Surfactants of India. Galaxy Surfactants plans to
use BASF’s BMBCert DMAPA to produce Galaxy CAPB SB for personal care applications, aiming for a reduction in CO2
emissions
compared to its existing products. Galaxy CAPB SB is
cocamidopropyl betaine, a versatile liquid cosmetic ingredient. As an amphoteric surfactant, it excels in various functions, including biodegradability, exceptional foaming, foam enhancement, and foam stability. In the realm of hair care, Galaxy
CAPB SB reduces static, lowers static charge, prevents build-up, and makes styling easier, ensuring a flyaway-reducing experience. It also finds applications in bath and
shower products, including body washes, shower gels, liquid soaps, and bubble baths. DMAPA, highly biodegradable, is an important building block for betaines, which are used to produce mild liquid soaps, shampoos and dishwashing detergents. DMAPA is the reason why shampoos do not sting the eyes and are gentle to the skin. BASF produces ISCC PLUS
and REDcert2-certified BMBCert DMAPA at its production sites
in Ludwigshafen, Germany; and Geismar, Louisiana, the United States. BASF reduces the cradle-to-
gate product carbon footprint (PCF) by replacing fossil feedstock with certified renewable resources at the beginning of the value chain. A corresponding amount of
renewable content is attributed to the product according to a mass balance approach. In addition, BASF uses renewable electricity in the manufacturing of BMBCert DMAPA, further reducing its PCF.
Seppic launches Sepifriend pet care range
Seppic has launched Sepifriend, a range of ingredients dedicated to pet hygiene, care and supplementation. The product portfolio includes:
foaming and solubilizing agents, rheology modifiers, an emulsifier, an emollient, topical active ingredients with dermo-purifying, soothing and skin repairing functions and a supplementation active ingredient to help address
common skin and coat issues in dogs. Seppic ensures that each
Sepifriend ingredient undergoes a stringent process, including thorough chemical and toxicological assessments. A major innovation supporting
this safety commitment is the development of an innovative in vitro toxicological model on a Reconstructed Canine Epidermis,
developed in collaboration with a partner.
This model demonstrates
good skin tolerance of the topical ingredients, making them suitable for leave-on and/or rinse-off pet care formulations. With a global pet population
exceeding one billion, the pet care market is experiencing significant growth, with an expected CAGR of 5.7% from 2022 to 2030.

Unispheres Givaudan reveals power of Unispheres technologyGivaudan has revealed the power of its Unispheres microspheres ingredients designed to ensure uniformity of size, shape, and colour for all types of skin and hair care applications. A new study revealed that
74% of users of a serum featuring Unispheres technology gave it a high efficacy rating (8 to 10/10), compared to only 55% for the same formula without Unispheres. The two Unispheres collections
– Essentials and Signature – are said to align with key industry trends such as personalisation, premiumisation, and holistic wellbeing. They enhance visual identity,
elevate perceived efficacy, and create a powerful emotional link between consumer and product. “Beauty is no longer just
about results — it’s also about the perception of those results,” said Givaudan Active Beauty innovation and marketing director Fabrice Lefèvre. “Unispheres Technology not
only supports product performance — it enriches its perception through visuals that spark curiosity, evoke emotion, and foster confidence, creating a deeper, more engaging connection with the product.”
