Croda unveils ChromaPur to replace microbeads

Croda International has unveiled ChromaPur CV2 & CV7, which are spheroidal cellulose powders to replace plastic microbeads in skin care and colour cosmetics. In partnership with Canadian

advanced material science company Anomera, Croda said the two cellulose powders offer exceptional sensory and optical benefits, including a soft-focus effect in skin care, and a better pay-off, coverage and colour intensity in colour cosmetics. ChromaPur CV2 & CV7 are

derived from upcycled black spruce, 100% natural, readily biodegradable, vegan and COSMOS approved. The powders are obtained

from a patented technology with

sustainable and transparent practices across the entire production cycle. “We can see a rising number

of conscious consumers pushing the beauty industry for more sustainable solutions,” said Croda

International beauty care marketing manager Aude Lemoine-Dessaint. “Being one of them, I’m very

proud to offer the possibility of personal care product with such a positive impact on the environment,” she added.

BASF reveals COSMOS-compliant pearlizer

BASF has taken the wraps off Euperlan NL Pearl, the first COSMOS-compliant, wax-based pearlizer made for rinse-off applications in personal care. Euperlan NL Pearl is composed

of the naturally-derived ingredients hydrogenated vegetable oil, cocamidopropyl betaine and glycerol oleate. BASF says it offers a high-

performance alternative to non- COSMOS approved ingredients and allows to address consumers’ demand for opacifying and pearlizing effects without using pigments.

“Euperlan NL Pearl shows outstanding attributes in hair care applications, especially on wet and dry combing tests, anti-hair

breakage measurements and suppleness tests,” said Nadine Le Bris, head of market development for hair/body/oral care. “This new pearlizer is readily

biodegradable and suitable for EO and sulfate surfactant-free solutions. It is easy to formulate and cold processable,” she added. “Formulations for shampoos,

body wash and shower gel developed with Euperlan NL Pearl allow a natural origin content up to 99% according to ISO 16128 and conformity with COSMOS standards for natural cosmetics.”

Kao unwraps eco-friendly formulations

Kao Chemicals Europe has unveiled two eco-friendly formula concepts – Solid Waterless and Dilutable – aimed at reusable packaging and the reduction of water use. The Solid Waterless concept

features Creamy Shampoo, Hair Conditioner and Body Moisturizer, while Dilutable concept consists of Conditioner and Hair & Body Cleanser. The formulations are designed

to be used with Kao Specialties such as Akypo Foam LM 25, an

that maintains volume, gives shine and facilitates hair styling. Meanwhile, DANOX HC-30,

a one-step 2-in-1 conditioning agent, is recommended for the preparation of skin care emulsions as it facilitates the formulation process and gives hair optimal properties to keep it healthy. Likewise, thanks to the

ultra-soft cleaning agent that provides a consistent, stable foam with a creamy texture and Kao Sofcare GP-1, a conditioning agent

combination of different Kao emollients like Exceparl LM-LC and Exceparl IS-CE-A, a sustainable body moisturizer with a natural character can be achieved.
