Essemtec Displays Rapid Prototyping and Dispensing System

Glassboro, NJ — Essemtec AG has presented a large, all-in-one platform that can be used for high-speed assembly, rapid prototyping and high-speed dispens- ing. The Puma/Tarantula platform is designed to adapt to various customer requirements by using different modules. Puma is a high-speed pick-and-place solution

that can also be used in the ultra-flexible prototyp- ing development sector. With an IPC assembly per- formance of 18,100 cph, the machine pushes into the mid-range field. To further increase flexibility, it contains up to 280 feeder positions. The system processes PCBs up to 5.9 x 2 ft (1.8 x 0.6m) in size. Aside from handling the assembly processes,

Puma also dispenses and jets in parallel up to 150,000 dots per hour. When all three axes are used exclusively for dispensing fluids, the platform is called Tarantula. There are five valve technologies to choose from, and all heads can be easily changed over on-site. Linear motor technology, paired

with “Epument” material for the min- eral cast frame, provides a speed increase of up to 52.5 percent over the previous model. The updated vibra- tion absorption through the mineral cast frame is designed to guarantee high accuracy over many years of use. Replacing traditional spindles and belts with the linear motor technology significantly reduces required mainte- nance. The assembly and dispensing processes are also displayed on the

same x/y system. The system’s software has also been optimized.

The structured interface of its large touchscreen monitor is as easy to operate as a smartphone. This enables the operator to process simple assembly groups, as well as more complex projects with mixed processes and 2.5D applications. Management can check the efficiency of the machine at any time. Essemtec also offers online support. The software has gateway connections for

production connectivity, making it available for active exchange of process and production data or

the execution of commands. Contact: Essemtec USA, 816 N Delsea Drive,

ESD-safe steel cutters. The cutters have a non-reflec-

tive satin finish, as well as a special screw joint design for blade align- ment that also minimizes friction. ESD-safe grips offer static-free con- trol and comfort while cutting. Ultra- responsive leaf springs help to reduce hand fatigue. The cutters are available in both flush and semi- flush finishes, as well as with a vari-

ety of head styles. Contact: Aven, Inc., 4330
