Manchester, NH — Verotec is supplying highly- customized KM6-HD-based EMC-screened sys- tems to the Diamond Light Source (DLS) national synchrotron science facility in the U.K. DLS gener- ates intense beams of synchrotron light at wave- lengths ranging from X-rays to the far infrared. These beams are used to investigate the structure and properties of a wide range of materials, includ- ing proteins, engineering components, archaeolog- ical artifacts, and many others. Verotec’s systems are used to house the new fourth-generation Xspress4 digital pulse proces- sors. This is an active development project that will provide better resolution than current systems to achieve a high counting rate per channel/pixel. Xspress4 integrates upgraded DPP hardware and firmware architectures to implement the algo- rithms, correcting the crosstalk between many channels in real time. The Verotec systems are 12U
high, 84 HP wide and 19.7 in. (50 cm) deep. They have reverse geometry with 10-off, 9U, 8.7 in. (22 cm) deep ADC boards at the front that plug into a 3U custom backplane at the top and a 1.5U backplane at the bot- tom of the assembly. Mounted at the rear are 10-off, 3U, 8.7 in. (22 cm)
Sono-Tek Releases Next-Gen Spray Flux System
Milton, NY — Sono-Tek Corporation has introduced its new SelectaFlux-A system. This redesigned, improved selective fluxing system is built on the successful SelectaFlux spray fluxing platform that the company has offered for more than 20 years. The system provides the same ad- justable spray pattern, from 0.08 to 0.3 in. (2 to 8 mm) or 0.2 to 1.2 in. (4 to 30 mm), with a new, upgraded, self-contained control module. Improvements include: touch-
screen user interface, ECHO genera- tor for better nozzle performance, in-

FPGA modules with more than 1,000 high-density connector pins that plug directly into the ADC boards. Because the modules have so many pins, custom, 3D-printed retainers are mounted on the two central tie bars, enabling the two boards to be bolted together. Three intelligent, 2U, three-fan trays are
mounted in the base. The trays are managed through individual sensors and controller boards that control the left, center and right sections of the unit. Three independent 600W PSUs are in- stalled, one provides 48 VDC for the fan trays, while the other two generate 5 and 12 VDC for the
electronics. Contact: Verotec, Inc, 150 Zachary Road,

creased flux delivery options, and dual-flux for easy switching between fluxes.
The new system is designed to
be easily retrofitted to all major se- lective solder machines as a fluxer head replacement. Like its predeces- sors, the system will spray fluxes without clogging or needing frequent maintenance and cleaning. Accord- ing to Sono-Tek, when compared with existing jetting and spray tech- nology, the SelectaFlux has more flux control, less overspray, no clog-
ging, and requires less maintenance. Contact: Sono-Tek Corp., 2012
