Air-Vac Expands Lines of Precision SMT Rework Modules

Seymour, CT — Air-Vac has introduced its AVX1000, a high-performance SMT rework system designed for a wide range of PCB assemblies. This fully-automated platform provides precision motion control for all pick-and-place, site cleaning, and dis- pensing procedures. High-speed force feedback pro- vides sensitivity for delicate component placement, such as 01005s. Larger components, such as 4.9 in. (125 mm) BGAs are also easily reworked. The sys- tem’s single and multiple field of view options pro- vide alignment, speed and flexibility. An accurate board image background simplifies and positively identifies rework sites. An optical zoom, auto-focus feature provides excellent image quality. An automatic nozzle changer is included to

ensure process speed and operator safety. A vacu- um sensor provides control for gentle, automatic component removal while a non-contact site cleaning tip’s height is accurately monitored and maintained. Component placement, pickup, flux/solder dipping, and drop off are all motorized. Repeatable thermal performance is obtained by a patented 2,000W heating element with PID control. A closed-loop mass flow controller regulates heat flow.

SMT Intros New Reflow Soldering System

Wertheim, Germany — SMT Masch - inen und Vertriebs has introduced its latest reflow soldering system, the Quattro Peak™ R360. The system includes a new airflow concept, which has very low energy consump- tion. Reduced distance from the oper- ator to the transport system enables more efficient production.

The AVX1000 has a radiant IR panel bottom

heater designed to provide robust thermal unifor- mity. Preheating of boards is temperature-based, using an IR sensor. With integrated PCB cooling, the system is brought back to its initial conditions for process repeatability. In addition, the rework system includes automatic, non-contact site clean- ing, automatic and easy-to-use thermal profiling software, and is available with a wide range of

standard and custom nozzles. Contact: Air-Vac Engineering, 30 Progress

Quattro Peak R360 reflow soldering system. The new machine offers easy

access to the process chambers and the transport modules. The transport mechanics are also entirely separat- ed from the process gas stream, elim- inating any contamination of the transport system. Each zone is equipped with

CATalysis process gas cleaning as standard. Additional features in - clude effective process cooling and precise nitrogen control. The new oven is also provided with tempera- ture-resistant clamp seals that can be exchanged without tools. The entire system is controlled by a new, intuitive user interface. Two-level structure allows operators to access any desired page in the interface

with only two clicks. Contact: SMT Maschinen und
