Mycronic Receives Mask Writer Order
Rowley, MA — Mycronic has received an order for multiple mask writers from Photronics. Photronics, with headquarters in Connecticut, is a supplier of pho- tomasks for the semiconductor and display industry with increasing activities in China. The order, which combines manufacturing and quality control of ad- vanced small and large photomasks, comprises one Prexision-800 mask writer, one Prexision-10 mask writer, one Prexision-MMS measurement sys- tem, as well as an additional refurbished Prexision-10. In the range of $90 to 100 million, this is Mycronic’s largest order to date. All systems except the Prexision-MMS are scheduled to be delivered during 2018, starting with Prex-

San Jose, CA — The latest update to the World Fab Forecast report, published in September by SEMI, revealed record spending for fab equipment. Out of the 296 front-end facilities and lines tracked by SEMI, the report shows 30 fa- cilities and lines with over $500 million in fab equipment spending. 2017 fab equipment spending (new and refurbished) is expected to increase by 37 per- cent, reaching a new annual spending record of about $55 billion. The SEMI World Fab Forecast also forecasts that in 2018, fab equipment spending will increase even more, another 5 percent, to approximately $58 billion. SEMI al- so reported that the largest equipment spending region is Korea, which has increased to about $19.5 billion in spending for 2017 from the $8.5 billion re-
