Santa Monica, CA — Embedded Systems Conference (ESC) Silicon Valley has finalized its full confer- ence lineup. The conference includes keynote presentations by experts Kyle Wiens, CEO of iFixit, and Dr. Gunnar Newquist, a pioneer in the field of advanced intelligence, as well as case studies, technical sessions and panel discussions on the most critical topics in embedded technolo- gy. Held from December 5 to 7, 2017, at the San Jose Convention Center in San Jose, California, ESC Silicon Valley will have more than 60 hours of conference content and tutorials. It also offers continuing education units from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) for all sessions attended, giving atten- dees the opportunity to work toward an official IEEE certificate. “ESC Silicon Valley is designed
to incorporate a variety of advanced sessions that address new technolo- gies, setting the stage for the future of embedded design and engineer- ing,” says Suzanne Deffree, ESC con- tent director and editor-in-chief of Design News. “The addition of Kyle Wiens and Dr. Gunnar Newquist as our keynote speakers underscores our focus on forward-thinking discus- sions and practical education de -
SEMICON Europe to be Held at productronica 2017
Continued from previous page One sign of this change is the
consolidation of the industry. As a result, semiconductor manufacturers reduce costs and increase profitabili- ty, but also expand their product portfolios. Companies that previous- ly focused on the now-saturated PC and smartphone market increasingly need to be active in growth segments such as the Internet of Things (IoT), industrial applications, automotive devices, and data storage. Such high-tech products place
particular demands on manufactur- ing. Almost all semiconductor processes take place in cleanrooms. Components have shrunk to struc- tural sizes where even molecular contaminants pose a danger. The “clean zone” in hall B2 demonstrates how manufacturers can work clean- ly. Another activity enables visitors to access an imaginary cleanroom through virtual reality (VR). The integration of SEMICON
Europe with productronica provides visitors with a complete range of infor- mation this year. In addition to semi- conductor manufacturing, the produc- tion of displays, LEDs and discrete components will be highlighted, as well as photovoltaic manufacturing, micro-nano production, and materials processing. Industry representatives will also benefit from a comprehensive supporting program of conferences. Contact: Messe München

signed to equip our audience with the tools to serve as innovators in their industries.” Wiens will address right-to-
repair laws as he takes the audience inside Apple’s brand-new iPhone 8, tearing down the new device onstage and exploring Apple’s design choices. On day two, Dr. Newquist will bring his background in neuroscience to a discussion about the implications and limitations of deep learning and the next revolution in AI. ESC Silicon Valley will also
include notable conference sessions. Principal consultant of TGG, Jack Ganssle, will explain practical ways to include time in a design in order to
help produce a system that meets deadlines in a presentation entitled “Really Real-Time Systems.” Ganssle will examine the real speeds of com- mon C constructs on various embed- ded processors, as well as the hype around multicore processors. Linley Gwennap, principal ana-
