Following some relaxing time spent at sea, you’ll soon be immersed in the highlights of Copenhagen, courtesy of Braemar’s central berthing location. The iconic Little Mermaid statue will be well within reach, along with the colourful Nyhavn waterfront district. Elsewhere, you could opt to stroll around the famous Tivoli Gardens, where you’ll find picturesque lakes and enchanting gardens; learn about the Danish royal residences on a highly recommended tour of ‘Royal Copenhagen’; or uncover Danish secrets at the National Museum.
An array of Art Nouveau architecture awaits your discovery in Helsinki. Or, for an altogether authentic experience, there’s an opportunity to delight in a Finnish sauna experience; the history of the sauna in Finland dates back hundreds of years. Next, you’ll be able to savour traditional golden domes along St Petersburg’s River Neva. This is made even more rewarding by Braemar’s scenic docking location at the Lieutenant Schmidt Embankment. During an unforgettable overnight stay, the star attractions include Peterhof Palace, the Hermitage Museum, the Faberge Museum, the Church of the Savior on
Spilled Blood, and of course the authentic Russian ballet performances.
Feeling refreshed and recharged after a day of cruising, you’ll head straight to the heart of Riga, a former European Capital of Culture. Here, the awe-inspiring Old Town features many of the highlights, including the much-photographed pairing of the House of the Blackheads and the Freedom Monument. Latvia’s capital is world-renowned for its collection of Art Nouveau architecture, too.
A full day in the seaside resort of Travemünde is sure to captivate you too. Charming streets lined with traditional German shops and cafés are a mere road- crossing from where Braemar will dock, while the promenade and harbour offer excellent opportunities for exploration. Alternatively, you could opt to make the most of Travemünde’s location; it’s your gateway to Lübeck, the original leading city of the Hanseatic League. To round everything off, you can relax on board and share stories of your adventures with friends old and new as Braemar navigates the size- restricted Kiel Canal en route back to Southampton.
