Join Boudicca for an incredible nine-night exploration of Norway’s most captivating destinations and jaw-dropping natural landscapes. Springtime is excellent for taking in the sights, such as the Briksdal Glacier, Bergen’s UNESCO-listed Bryggen Wharf and the twisting Nærøyfjord. A great way to capture the scenery is by rail; you can relax as the Flåm Railway and Bergen’s funicular railway bring everything closer.
Stavanger
Olden
Enjoy a relaxing day at sea as you head north to the historic city of Bergen. Surrounded by seven mountains, Norway’s second city offers plenty to see and do. Take in the rich flavours at the famous fish market; explore the UNESCO-listed Bryggen Wharf area; and be sure to board the funicular railway to the top of Mount Fløyen – with the astonishing views on offer, you won’t regret it.
Flåm retains more of a quaint fjordland village feel. The scenery here is spectacular, particularly if you venture high up into the mountains on the Flåm Railway, or perhaps experience a rewarding journey down to the fjord by bicycle. Elsewhere, the towering Stegastein viewing platform is sure to delight. For an extra special experience, Boudicca will then divert from the normal sea route between ports to explore the dramatic twists and turns of the Nærøyfjord, a stunning wonder rated joint-top in National Geographic’s list of natural heritage sites worldwide.
You’ll be afforded time to discover a collection of Art-Nouveau architecture – towers and turrets, ornaments and balconies, steeples and spires –
Olden
with a full day in Ålesund, or perhaps head to the top of Mount Aksla and view the city in all its glory. Ålesund is also your starting point for a catamaran cruise along the wild and dramatic Hjørundfjord, one of Norway’s hidden treasures.
Calling into tranquil Olden provides an opportunity to view the mighty Kjenndalen Glacier and the magnificent Briksdal Glacier – an arm of Europe’s largest inland glacier, Jostedalsbreen. It’ll then be time to become even more immersed in Norway’s natural beauty. You’ll experience the sloping green mountainsides of the enchanting Nordfjord; the cascading Fureberg Waterfall; and Hardangerfjord,
‘Queen of the Fjords’; during your scenic cruising adventures.
From charming Eidfjord you can kayak on the still waters of the Hardangerfjord, take a tour to the invigorating Hardangervidda Nature Centre, sample authentic local treats at the Hardanger Juice and Cider Factory, or visit the spectacular Vøringsfoss Waterfall. To round off your journey, why not spend a day exploring Stavanger’s fascinating Old Town?
