CONTRACT AWARD
In 2014 DeepOcean was awarded a significant contract for trenching services on the Western HVDC Link Project between
MAJOR MULTI-YEAR CONTRACT “Western Link is a major multi- year contract for the company and demonstrates that customers trust in their experience and ability to perform complex trenching projects” says Merv New – DeepOcean’s Business Development Director.
FUTURE INSTALLATION AND TRENCHING CAPABILITY
DeepOcean’s power cable installation and trenching capability will be increased in 2016 when it takes delivery of the Maersk Connector, an advanced DPII flexible product installation vessel with a 7000 tonne duel basket carousel.
EXPERIENCE
DeepOcean has over 20 years’ experience in its core competence of offshore cable installation and trenching. The company’s large portfolio of advanced trenching equipment and extensive operational track record of pre-cut, post-trench and simultaneous lay and burial help secure its position as a leading trenching contractor.
IN-HOUSE GEOTECHNICAL TEAM In addition the company has a unique in-house Geotechnical team, providing a full range of geoscience-related support services including geotechnical and trenching engineering. They also maintain an extensive operational database, which combined with the use of predictive
Scotland and England. Their scope comprises pre-lay survey, pre-lay grapnel run, post-trench survey and trenching of over 560km of HVDC cable in water depths up to 165m.
The company is currently mobilising its PCP2 high performance power cable plough to bury and immediate backfill approximately 425km of cable. The PCP2 will be deployed from the Go Pegasus vessel, which will be chartered. Jet Trenching of approximately 135km of cable will be performed from one of DeepOcean’s permanently mobilised trenching support vessels. Offshore works will commence in the second half of 2015, with campaigns continuing into 2016.
The vessel will be equipped with a 7 point mooring system allowing close approach for shore end installations and to ground out fully loaded. In addition, the vessel can be mobilised with a high performance power cable plough, providing 3.0m burial and immediate backfill of power cables.
