TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT INTRODUCTION
REACHING NEW HEIGHTS IN OFFSHORE SAFETY
HFR Solutions is a full service risk prevention and emergency response provider. A social enterprise off-shoot of Humberside Fire and Rescue Service, the company was set-up in 2012 to take the skills, knowledge and expertise of the fire and rescue service to the private sector and it certainly has achieved that vision in the offshore wind industry.
WORKING TOGETHER
Since last year HFR Solutions has been working with Centrica Energy in both a consultation and training capacity to improve the safety in offshore windfarms. The aim of one project, aptly named Boy Scout, as in ‘always be prepared’, is to review and analyse the current safety procedures in eight focus areas, with a view to making recommendations to the industry that would improve the offshore safety in these areas and ultimately create some safety standards embraced by and embedded in, the whole of the offshore wind industry.
MEDICAL ASSISTANCE AND EQUIPMENT
The company is currently facilitating a working group to improve the medical standards in the remote locations in which windfarms predominantly exist, both on and offshore. This has involved a joint approach with HFR Solutions, medical professionals and Centrica Energy in reviewing the current procedures and recommending a range of options to improve the medical standards that can then be delivered to offshore engineers and workers.
