40th Anniversary for North East training company

This year NETA Training enters their 40th year of business. Originally set up as a consortium by companies in Teesside to provide local training for local people in the engineering construction industry, the company's ties with the local industrial community are as strong as ever.

Raising the profile of the North East, NETA is often the forerunner in the delivery of new ground-breaking training, regularly the first to invest in the training needs of today and instrumental in bringing to the area training courses previously unavailable to the local workforce.

STEADY GROWTH

The company has steadily grown from a small specialist-training provider with a single facility to one of the largest providers in the North of England with centres in Stockton-on-Tees and Billingham.

In addition, many courses are now delivered at clients’ own premises either in the UK or abroad, with an array of training programmes customised to reflect the specific requirements of the client.

INVESTMENT

Always first to invest to ensure it is at the forefront of technological developments, NETA has built its very own Mechanical Joint Integrity suite from the ground up

20 www.windenergynetwork.co.uk

and gained Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB) accreditation for MJI training. Also in partnership with Hytorc, famous for their manufacturing of bolting tools and calibration, NETA have developed an invaluable mobile MJI training unit meaning they can come to you anywhere in the UK.

HUMAN ERROR

In the last few years a number of serious incidents have occurred during installation and construction, maintenance, disassembly and steady-state operations which have resulted from unplanned leaks and loss of pressure. The majority of these incidents have been caused by human error due to lack of competency which can quickly escalate from a small loss of containment to disaster on a massive scale.

These incidents have therefore highlighted the need within the oil & gas and offshore renewables industry to improve the safety performance of such operations which can be met with competency based training.

COURSES AVAILABLE As one of only five training centres nationally who can offer ECITB MJI training,

NETA offer… • MJI 10: Hand Torque Bolted Connection Techniques

• MJI 18: Hydraulically Tensioned Bolted Connections and MJI 19

• Hydraulically Torque Connection Techniques

All 3 in a combination of training or as a three day training course.

CERTIFICATION

Candidates are issued with a workbook and then have between three and twelve months to complete this and return for their technical tests (TMJI). Upon successful completion of the Technical tests candidates are certified as competent for the following three years.
