Their testing, certification and advisory services are delivered independent from each other.

Through their expertise and services, their aim is to support clients’ and customers’ integrity and foresight, as they strive for safety and sustainability in the energy industry as a broad vision delivering world- renowned testing, certification and advisory services to the energy value chain including renewables and energy efficiency.


The organisation’s expertise spans onshore and offshore wind power, solar, conventional generation, transmission and distribution, smart grids, and sustainable energy use, as well as energy markets and regulations.


Academy delivered approximately 55 open enrolment courses, run in about 15 different countries. The courses were attended by 600 participants, coming from many different countries in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Australia and North- and South-America.


CASE STUDY


One example of their training service is from last December when they worked with the National Institute of Wind Energy (NIWE) in India, to provide them with a bespoke 5 day course, covering the use of bladed software and rotor aerodynamics and blade design for wind turbines.

FPI Northwest are an established fluid power (hydraulic and pneumatic) engineering company based in the heart of the North West of England, offering over 75 years’ experience in a variety of engineering sectors (including renewables).


ONE-STOP-SHOP


The company design, build, install and commission fluid power systems along with sales and service of new and refurbished parts, systems and ancillary products (filters, hoses, etc.) and enjoy working relationships with all the major fluid power manufacturers.


They also offer condition monitoring and oil contamination monitoring to renewable companies utilising hydraulic control systems.

DNV GL's Energy Academy provides a wide range of courses for the electricity supply chains, bringing together courses from legacy DNV, GL, Garrad Hassan and KEMA. The courses draw on their extensive expertise in business & technical consultancy, testing, inspections & certification, risk management and verification – helping turn knowledge into power.

More recently, the company have developed a training arm to their business to meet a growing demand for bespoke and tailored courses suited to customer plant and equipment. One such customer in the wind energy business, has already had four courses delivered within the last 18 months.


ENGINEERING EXPERIENCE FPI’s combined 75 years’ engineering experience in the fluid power industry along with director Colin Walker’s ten year spell as an engineering lecturer has resulted in a company that can offer a complete hydraulic and/or pneumatic training package.
