SECTION SPONSOR
TECHNICAL
has had a long-standing importance as part of the emergency response procedure for many diving contractors operating in the North Sea.
The system mirrors that of one found within a diving support vessel – NHC regularly conducts various manned and unmanned trails of equipment and procedures ensuring functionality of equipment or competence of a dive team within a controlled environment prior to a project being taken offshore.
The facility is also regularly used during a variety of our training courses, giving students hands-on experience with the same equipment and set up they will encounter ‘on the job’. Having access to this facility during training courses provides students with a unique learning experience which many training establishments cannot offer.
EXPANSION
They have now expanded to offer diver and subsea training in worldwide locations. Having recently opened an office and permanent training facility in Singapore which enables them to provide IMCA approved training to the Asia-Pacific region. They are also able to schedule bespoke courses anywhere in the world.
NHC is passionate about improving diver safety and progressing safe and efficient subsea operations across all related industries.
National Hyperbaric Centre (NHC)
“This is great news for Stockton and the North East, especially if we can help more people in our area to learn a skill which is sought after by a variety of sectors within the industry.”
INCREASED SUPPORT STAFF
The introduction of the training facility will not only benefit those looking to learn new skills or enhance existing ones, but could also see up to four jobs created at the company, as it looks to add more support staff to the current 15 person team.
IMPRESSIVE PROJECT LIST
Already considered the North East’s Premier Rope Access Specialists, TIS is fast becoming known throughout the UK and the world, having worked on projects including London’s The Shard, The Cutty Sark, The EnQuest Producer and Nigeria’s Bonga oilfield. Gary added: “Due to the nature of work we specialise in, completing a NDT course with TIS paves the way to an exciting career which could see future employees travelling the UK and even the world.
OPPORTUNITIES
Managing Director of TIS, Gary King, is excited at the prospect of this latest training scheme and the opportunities it will offer people. Gary commented: “Having a NDT training facility on site shows how far we have come as a company and will mean that we can provide trainees with a complete package, giving them real earning prospects.
“Offering NDT training, alongside the Rope Access training we already provide, means we are really helping people to train to the highest standard they can attain and help get them into work.
“This course is a great opportunity for both current professionals, such as engineers, to enhance their skills but will equally suit someone looking for a career change who is up for a challenge.”
FUTURE PLANS
The NDT centre is the start of TIS’ future expansion plans, with the company also launching an on-site Train the Painter training facility this July.
