Page 89 XJTAG: DFT for Mentor Graphics PADS
Cambridge, England — Developed by XJTAG®, the free DFT software for PADS® schematic design promises to increase the design for test and debug capabilities of the schematic capture and PCB design environment. Printed circuit boards are becoming more
densely populated and access to pins under many packages, such as BGAs, is virtually impossible. JTAG was designed to solve the problem of access and it is vitally important to get the JTAG chain right at the design stage. Failure to identify and fix design errors at an early stage can result in costly delays to a project. XJTAG DFT Assistant helps validate correct JTAG chain connectivity, through full integration with the PADS schemat- ic capture environment. The XJTAG DFT Assistant consists of two
key elements: a chain checker and access viewer. The chain checker identifies common errors in a JTAG scan chain, such as incorrectly connected test access ports (TAPs). A single connection error would inhibit an entire scan chain from working. XJTAG’s chain checker
BTU Demos New Dual Chamber Reflow Oven
North Billerica, MA — BTU Inter - national has launched its new PYRA- MAX™ ZeroTurn dual-chamber sys- tem and WINCON™ connected facto- ry interface. With the software inter- face, manufacturers are able to con- nect the oven to the rest of the facto- ry, supporting Industry 4.0.
Automatic and optimized assignment of fluxing and soldering jobs to the available modules
Flexibly integrable soldering system: inline or batch operation
PYRAMAX ZeroTurn reflow oven. The PYRAMAX ZeroTurn is
designed for high-volume electronics manufacturers who must manage process mix and are dissatisfied with the poor process separation of other dual-chamber machines. This system eliminates the turnaround and wait- ing time when switching thermal profiles. The ZeroTurn has excellent thermal isolation between chambers, allowing for precise process control and thermal uniformity. The company is also supporting
Industry 4.0 through a variety of technologies. These include line con- trol and communications, recipe development and energy saving soft- ware solutions. BTU’s WINCON is a powerful oven control system with custom MES solutions, plug-and- play interoperability and easy inte- gration with OT/IT systems. The interface includes the company’s RecipePro recipe generation tool and

identifies connection errors and reports them to the developer during the design process. Incorrectly ter- minated TAPs are also identified. The access viewer overlays the extent of boundary scan access onto the schematic diagram,
allowing users to see which components are acces- sible using boundary scan, and where test cover- age could be further extended. Engineers can high- light the nets individually to show read, write, power/ground, and the nets that have no JTAG access on the schematic. While the first prototype is being manufac-
tured, XJTAG DFT Assistant allows engineers to export a preliminary XJTAG project from the PADS schematic capture environment to the XJTAG development software, where additional tests can be developed. These can then be used
to test hardware as soon as it is available. Contact: XJTAG, St. John’s Innovation
