May, 2017 InfraTec Intros Mini Multichannel Detectors

Plano, TX — InfraTec has introduced a complete series of miniaturized multichannel detectors. In the cap, where conventional multichannel detec- tors have sensitive narrow bandpass channel fil- ters, a central window has been added instead. This significantly more robust broadband filter, made of silicon, offers protection against moisture. It can also be soldered to the housing to create a complete hermetic seal. The channel filters are now placed inside the

detectors. This way they are shielded from mechanical and physical stress, as well as from other harsh environmental effects, and they are located closer to the pyroelectric elements. The reduction of this distance and the central window integrated into the detector caps work to make the field of view (FOV) wider. All elements are placed closely together inside the detectors. This allows

more radiation to reach the pyroelectric element, improving the signal. Due to their modular stack design, the detec-

tors are available with and without thermal com- pensation. The compact construction allows for more analysis channels while leaving the overall detector size unchanged. Or, the same number of channels can be integrated into smaller packages. One detector in the series, the LRM-254, a

miniaturized four-channel detector, comes in a TO39 housing, with an aperature of 5 x 5 mm (0.2 x 0.2 in.). Each channel filter is 1.4 x 1.4 mm (0.06 x 0.06 in.) in size. The dimensions of the detectors

make them suitable for use in portable devices. Contact: InfraTec Infrared, LLC, 5048

Moticont Adds Linear Motors to SDLM Series

Van Nuys, CA — Moticont has added two linear motors to its SDLM series of high-speed, direct-drive linear motors, also known as electric cylinders. The compact drives have a 1 in. (25 mm) stroke, are 1 in. (25 mm) in diameter and 3.75 in. (95 mm) long. The SDLM- 025-095-01-05 and the SDLM-025-095- 01-01 motors have resolutions of 5 and 1.25 µm, respectively. The motors contain an integral,

linear optical encoder that is directly connected to the shaft for the greatest possible accuracy. Each motor has a

continuous force rating of 5.82N and a peak force of 18.4N. The motors are designed with an air gap of 0.06 in. (1.5 mm). This large air gap allows the motors to be used for applications in vibration, noise cancellation, pho- tonics, gimbals, antenna positioning, medical devices, semiconductor han- dling, and many others. The non-commutating motors

have quiet, long-life, plain linear bearings, a non-rotating shaft, pre- drilled and tapped mounting holes, and threaded (internal) ends of the shaft for easy integration. The low- cost direct-drive motors are coupled directly to the load, providing high acceleration and speed with zero cog- ging and no backlash. The motors are also available as a complete plug- and-play linear motion system with a

matching motion controller. Contact: Moticont, 6901
