Oyster Bay, NY — Mill-Max has introduced its lowest-profile target connectors to date, with an above board height of 0.87 in. (2.21 mm). Target connectors are used in place of SMT pads on a PCB as the mating surface for spring-loaded pins. They offer durability and are useful for achieving specif- ic distances between boards. The company has introduced four low-profile
products. The connectors are all surface mount, available in single- or double-row packages, and are offered with flat or concave target faces. Con- cave face targets provide additional surface area for mating and can aid in the centering and align- ment of components and boards fitted with spring- loaded connectors. Precision-machined pins with an overall length tolerance of ±0.0015 in. (±0.038 mm) help to achieve coplanarity of 0.005 in. (0.13 mm) or better, for connectors up to 1 in. (25.4 mm) long. To achieve an ultra-low-profile mated pair using these target con- nectors, the Mill-Max series 815 and 817 (single- and double-row, respectively) are a good choice. The 815/817 connectors, compressed to 1/2 stroke and used in combination with these new low-profile tar- get connectors, provide a board-to-board spacing of 0.175 in. (4.45 mm). nondestructive dual thermal stress screening process, based on a varia- tion of HALT/HASS principles, the systems are able to focus the testing on suspected problem areas to safely screen out early field failures caused by design, environmental, produc- tion, and structural defects. In component testing, the PCB
is preheated while the focused IR is aimed at the center of the component to heat up the die directly — in either cycle or step test modes to check the design for integrity. For solder joint validation, the entire component is heated. The systems use PDR’s dual- zone IR heating and gas cooling process that independently heats the PCB and component in a safe ther- mal cycle, and can be used during
