Hammond Rack Rated for Seismic Environments

ANTI-STATIC COATINGS TOPICAL CONCENTRATES

Cheektowaga, NY — Hammond’s popular welded-frame C2 19 in. (48.3 cm) rack has been independently tested and is now suitable for use in all U.S. locations, including the high- est seismic design category, SDC E, which covers most of the Western Seaboard. The racks are available in standard sizes from 20U high, 23 in. wide and 23.6 in. deep (58.4 cm wide and 60 cm deep) to 49U high, 23 in. wide and 36 in. deep (58.4 cm wide and 91.4 cm deep). Typical applica- tions include broadcast, test equip- ment, cabling cabinets, systems, and general electronics. The rack is rated to carry a

1,000 lb (453.6 kg) load when installed in buildings sited on Soil Groups A down to D. To conform, the center of the mass of the load must be below the height centerline of the rack and bolted to the floor of the building. The doors and panels are not structural elements, so the seis- mic rating applies to both open and clad racks. The rack is built with a 14-gauge

Multifunction Wire Stripper

Buffalo Grove, IL — Komax Wire has released its Mira 340 multifunction wire stripper, with a robust cutting head design and a large process- ing range for conductor cross-sec- tions up to 16 mm2 (AWG 6) and up to a 72 mm (2.8 in.) strip length. The wire stripper com- bines rotary incision with four precision blades to provide a strong and balanced grip when pulling off insulation. The blades provide high stripping quality and allow for a broad application range. The machine is designed to strip, trim and twist wires and cables with maximum precision. The programmable Mira 340

is designed for universal use while maintaining its precision. It is useful for processing wires and insulation material with demand- ing requirements. The rotary head offers functions designed to reduce production time and increase quality. Due to sequen- tial processing, multi-conductor cables and multilayer insulation material can be processed quickly, saving time and increasing produc- tivity.

By using the Mira 340’s sequen-

tial processing, operators can pre- pare several processing steps to be executed in a single run. Inter - mediate adjustments are unneces- sary. Stripping of the jacket, strip- ping and twisting of the inner con- ductors of a multicore cable, and stripping of multilayer insulation are all possible. Using a barcode reader, the article number can be imported
