084 VENUE

Continuing upstairs there is one large VIP Room with a capacity of 25, which is home to a further two VX 12’s and two Tannoy VS 15BP subwoofers. While the two smaller VIP rooms, able to accom- modate 12-15 people are each equipped with two VX 8’s supple- mented by two Tannoy VS 10BP subwoofers. Again, the VIP rooms are separate zones so visitors can choose to listen to their own music or the DJ. Cementing his loyalty for Tannoy, Narinder said: “Tannoy does not sacrifice on quality at all and therefore we are very proud to be associated with the brand.”

The DJ area is located adjacent to the dancefloor and is 12 ft long. When DJs visit F-Bar they too are treated to an experience thanks to the impressive set-up. Two Pioneer DJM-900 mixers, two Pioneer CDJ-2000 CD players and a set of Technics turntables ensure the entire 12 ft space is filled. For DJ monitoring Narinder specified two Tannoy VX 12HPs. With their 700W of programmable power handling and exceptionally clean sound, the DJ just love being behind the console.

To power the system, a total of 15 Crown amplifiers were chosen - seven XTi 2002’s and eight XTi4 002’s. The XTi Series is equipped with integrated DSP that allows quick and easy configuration of crossovers, EQ, limiting and delays, making them a powerful and efficient choice. Narinder said: “We decided to go for Crown because is it always value for money and you get ample amplification channels for a lower cost. It is a very decent sounding amp.” For loudspeaker management two dbx DriveRack 4800’s were selected. “It’s probably the industry standard, four in, eight out, AES and really high dynamic range. It was justified for the install, we had to go with something of that standard.”

Because of the multi-functionality of the venue challenges did arise during the installation process, namely acoustical challenges. Narinder explained further: “There isn’t much absorbing material here so acoustics were a bit of a challenge. We had to tune the system a couple of times to get the best results out of it. We also played with the DSP to get the best result. It was a good DSP to use so it went pretty well.”

Shitij and Narinder also took on the lighting element at F-Bar. A large lighting rig wasn’t necessary, purely because F-Bar operates more as a bar and lounge venue than a full scale nightclub, however, the directors were keen to offer visitors some kind of clubbing element. The pair carefully selected Robe, knowing that the Czech Republic manufacturer produced quality fixtures and even with just a small number of them would be able to create some stunning lighting ef- fects. A total of four Robe Club Spot 250 CT moving heads and six Robe LED Force 7 RGBW par cans were mounted around the dance floor. The Club Spots feature a gobo wheel with 10 static gobos and a colour wheel with 11 colours plus white, providing plenty of effects to create different lighting sequences. The LED Force 7’s offer long life LEDs and very low power consumption, ideal for a low mainte- nance lighting rig. Narinder said: “We chose Robe fixtures because they are elegant and they do the job well. We concentrated on the dance floor only because the other areas don’t really require profes- sional lighting fixtures.”

An SGM Pilot 2000 console was installed to control the minimal- ist lighting rig, however it is more than capable of providing ample

“We regard Tannoy as one of the best sounding boxes in the industry. Taking into account its price point,

they are very loud boxes, which essentially means you can install fewer

boxes and still achieve the desired SPL.”
