RITZ CARLTON GRAND CANAL
Company: TOA Location: Abu Dhabi, UAE
TOA’s Dubai office was recently awarded a contract at the 7 Star Ritz Carlton Grand Canal Hotel and Resort in Abu Dhabi. Set amidst beautiful landscaped gardens with its own private beach overlooking the Grand Canal, The Ritz Carlton features 447 luxurious guestrooms and suites, as well as 85 villas. The TOA Dubai office teamed up with one of the biggest system integrators in Abu Dhabi, Zener Electrical and Electronics Services. “It was a challenging task to take on this project from our side, competition was fierce. Convincing the consultant and matching the contractor budgets was like climbing Everest. But in end the it was through dedication and our continued support that has resulted in another landmark project for us in the region,” said Ali Ullah Sabri, Manager at TOA Dubai Office. The project itself consists of 10 main hotel buildings in a crown shape, 88 indi- vidual chalets, 86 pergolas and other apartments, a tennis centre, huge swimming pool area, as well as various other buildings stretched across the 17,800 sq metre development. These areas needed to be connecting over a network for public ad- dress, background music and voice evacuation purposes. Ali supplied a TOA network based SX-2000SM for the main back end system combined with a TOA M-9000M2 digital mixer for 12 food and beverage outlets across the hotel, allowing each outlet to select the sound source and volume level locally. Ali also specified TOA F-2352C and F-2852C ceiling speakers along with TOA SR-H2 line array speakers for a number of areas in the building. The indoor pool areas are equipped with 16 TOA HX-5 compact arrays (weather proof ver-

sions), while 32 TOA GS-302 garden speakers take care of the outdoor pool area. “The basic design concept for this project was to have control of the system from a central control room and connect different remote locations over a network using TOA’s NX-100 network adapter. TOA’s SX-2000SM was chosen due to its expandable product capabilities. It’s a unique design concept, as it is quite rare to see the SX-2000SM network system combined with the M-9000M2 and the NX-100,” continued Ali. Various amplifiers from the VP Series have been installed to power the speakers. A total of 24 TOA VP-2421 420W amplifiers, eight TOA VP-2241 240W amplifiers and five TOA VP-2122 120W amplifiers have been supplied for the project. Ali said: “It was a challenging job for me to connect the remote locations over a network, having specified the requirements for each area where by maintaining durability and effectiveness of sound was a major part. The combination of profes- sional sound for the pool areas with normal PA/BGM was unique. “It was also difficult to convince OTAK Consultant, Maan Imad Al-Hashimi to have confidence in system and prove that the products had the capabilities that this project required.” The time frame to deliver this project was very tight, however, TOA was fully dedicated to supporting the project and ensuring handover took place successfully and on time. This project has given the TOA Dubai office a confidence boost with regard to expanding within the UAE market.
