ties and produce even colour mixing. Rudolf chose 20 GLP Volkslicht LED moving heads, which are similarly compact and lightweight, as well as being fast and accurate in their movement. The GLP Impres- sion Spot One is one of the newer fixtures in the GLP range, 12 of them were installed at Ministry. The Spot Ones feature an extensive, crisp colour palette while at the same time are capable of a range of clean whites. They are also equipped for sharp image projections. Some of the moving head fixtures have been floor mounted on stage, whilst others are truss mounted in front of the stage, over the dance- floor and above the mezzanine seating areas around the perimeter of the room.

An MA Lighting grandMA and a grandMA2 light provide the control for the lighting fixtures. The consoles offer intuitive and fast control for all the fixtures and their channels. The original grandMA has a number of successful features, but the grandMA2 light combines these with new features to produce an overall system that is easy to operate, flexible and offers a comfortable way of programming. Both consoles

feature a number of presets, cues, pages, sequences and effects, all of which help to create some stunning lighting patterns. A custom made LED dancefloor, an LED screen behind the DJ booth and lasers have been installed to add to the visual effects. The lasers were supplied from locally based, Kvant. The company has been manufacturing laser products for the last 16 years and in that time it has become one of the leading manufacturers in laser display technol- ogy. As Ministry of Fun is located on Kvant’s doorstep, it was an easy choice for Rudolf to select the laser manufacturer. Two green 5W and two green 8W lasers have been installed, which are customised ver- sions of Kvant’s Maxim lasers. Three full colour lasers with 19W and 23W outputs were also built especially for Ministry. They acted as the initial design that later developed into the creation of Kvant’s Spec- trum laser range. Kvant cooperates with Pangolin, a US manufacturer of laser control systems on a regular basis and for Ministry it was no different. A Pangolin software package organises the Kvant laser displays on a nightly basis.
