We design everything as one package, removing guesswork from the equation, and this is what gives us an advantage in terms of reliability.”

There were several acoustical challenges at Blue Frog, Delhi. The venue’s proportions being wider and longer in comparison to Mumbai and it has a low ceiling height. On the ceiling the interior team designed disks as lighting features, which doubled up as acoustical devises. After many EASE simulations the team reached a deci- sion on the best acoustical treatment. Firstly, backing the perforated disks with high-density sound absorptive material was the best way to minimise a reflections of the concrete ceiling to the seating areas. Each seating pod also acts a bass trap with perforations behind the upholstery lining. While the back wall is covered with diaphragmatic bass traps to handle the very low frequency sonic content and other materials such as wood-wool boards and infill treatments cater for the mid to high frequencies.

A DiGiCo SD9 met the criteria for a mixing console with ease. With its 48 flexi channels, 16 flexi buses and its 15-inch touch screen enabling fast control, the SD9 caters above and beyond the needs of Head Sound Engineer, Humayan Sd. Kumbha explained the deci-

sion behind the choice of desk: “DiGiCo had all points covered for the requirement. We had very limited space available so needed a digital mixing console with necessary processing power. The DiGiCo platform is intuitive and quick to learn. Outside engineers can quickly become familiar with its usability. DiGiCo’s build quality was also a factor, as many different engineers will use the equipment, so it had to be strong and reliable. Last but not least, DiGiCo has a very good reputation for building live mixing desks.” An Apple Mac computer equipped with an RME Madi card also provides Humayan with the added capability of recording and playing 56 audio tracks. LBT Electronics Pvt India, a Delhi-based company, which specialises in stage lighting, supplied the lighting fixtures that are mounted directly above the stage. There is a selection of LED washes, par cans, and profiles. While for visual technology four High End System DL.3 moving head projectors were chosen. Humayan is also Head of Department for audio, video and lighting at Blue Frog, he explained a little more about the DL.3 fixtures. He said: “The DL3 moving head projectors allow us to project anywhere in the venue, and at the same time they can operate as intelligent lights. They have an inbuilt camera so you can record and an inbuilt media server too so you
