046 VENUE
The whole sound system is powered by ten L-Acoustics LA8 ampli- fied controllers. Every LA8 has four channels each capable of deliver- ing up to 1,800W of power to the speakers, while the built in DSP module ensures optimisation and linearisation is correctly achieved and provides transducer protection. For room EQ and signal distribu- tion for the LA8’s, a Dolby Lake Processor with four inputs and 12 outputs is used. Evzen continued: “The whole club is acoustically balanced, so it maintains an overall feel and full frequency response. The design of the sound system and acoustic treatments of the floor and ceiling to prevent unwanted reflections in the audience area, results in a very clean sound.”
To achieve natural and warm sound at all levels Rudolf went for pair of Avalon VT-737SP units, used primarily as master compressors on the DJ mix output.
Three sound insulated skyboxes, each with their own air condition- ing and bar add exclusivity to the venue. To maintain the party atmosphere inside the skyboxes, each has a discrete Bose system installed with its own control. On the third floor there is a gold VIP skybox with its own bar and balcony, which provides an ideal hospital- ity package for the most demanding visitors. To light the 1,500-capacity venue an extensive rig was required. Rudolf opted for three different lighting manufacturers to create the optimum lighting design. Firstly, he went to Robe and selected five Robe ColorWash 1200 AT moving heads that are quick and simple to operate, 14 Robe ColorSpot 1200 ATs that produce a very bright output, 13 Robe ColorSpot 700 fixtures with a zoom range of 15° - 51 and 12 Robe Robin 600 Beams with flexible linear irises. Next, Rudolf approached Italian manufacturer Clay Paky and chose one of its newest products on the market, the Sharpy. A total of 12 were included in the lighting rig. The Sharpys are equipped with an 189W bulb, which produce unusually high brightness for their wattage. Their output is sharp and clearly defined and they offer 14 different colour options, ideal for changing the lighting mood quickly and efficiently. A total of 34 fixtures from GLP complete the intelligent lighting rig. Two GLP Impression 120 RZs were easily mounted due to their ‘no base unit’ design, they are equipped with smooth dimming proper-
