installed discreetly as per the instructions of the interior designer. Oussama stuck with Dynacord to power the system, selecting the DSA multi-channel amplifiers, which have very high output, plus extremely good efficiency and integration into IRIS-Net networks in a 2U rack. Oussama explained the reason behind choosing ampli- fiers from the DSA range. He said: “Due to their variable load drive feature each channel can be switched individually to provide 500W - a total of 1,000W at either two ohms or four ohms. They can also drive 70VRMS or 100 VRMS loudspeaker lines directly without an output transformer.

“In combination with the RCM-810 module the user can configure these amplifiers under IRIS-Net using the variable load drive to provide any output power in the range of 100W to 500/1,000W per channel at any load in the range of two ohms to 10 ohms.” Phoenix input connectors that are electronically balanced link the DSA amplifiers the speaker system. The same connectors are also used for the power outputs, simplifying the installation. The Power Remote connector further simplifies the task of remote controlling the power amplifier as well as switching them on and off. Further remote-supervision, control possibilities and integration into IRIS-Net networks are also available via a RCM-810 remote control module. For control Hi Fi Service specified two digital audio matrices, one standard Dynacord P64 and one Dynacord P64-1500 with an eight input, 40 output configuration and two DSPs connected via CobraNet. Oussama said: “The processor had to have enough inputs and outputs to handle the clients zoning and control needs. Each zone had its own DSP control and there was enough DSP horsepow- er in the units to cater for both what was needed now and in future.

The P64 digital signal processor controls everything from the main sound to the reinforcement system and even the DJ monitors. “The control surface was created in IRIS-Net, a graphic user interface that was needed to ensure the system was protected at all time, but had enough control to keep the DJs happy. Multi levels of control, GUIs and limits work wonders in this venue,” he added. After the final tuning of the system was complete, Life hosted its opening night, which was well attended. Maurice received some posi- tive feedback on the audio set-up from the audience. He reiterated some of the comments: “The system performs better than expected, it is extremely loud, clear and has done everything we have asked of it We definitely made the right choice with Dynacord.”
