Simon Peter, Andrew, James and John trusted Jesus when he asked them to follow Him. Mary allowed herself to be the vehicle for God’s will when the Angel Gabriel announced that she was chosen to be the mother of Jesus. They may have been afraid. They may have been embarrassed. They may have doubted. They said “yes” anyway. They did not let fear paralyze them; rather, they selflessly let God work through them. What a world of meaning in a simple “yes.” A word upon which our salvation depends. Mary and the disciples responded whole-heartedly when Jesus called. What a “love full of action“ ! (CC)

Prayer

Like the disciples, may we become fishers of men and women this Advent. Let us follow Jesus when He calls us no matter when. May we respond with grace and positivity just as our forebears did knowing that when God calls it is the right time. Through the intercession of Mary, let us be inspired by her joyful fiat. How will I say “yes” to the Lord today?
