my church called “This is the Day” and the lyrics are so fitting: “This is the day, this is the day, that the Lord has made. I will rejoice, I will rejoice and be glad in it.” How much am I doing in my day to glorify the Creator? Tomorrow isn’t promised and It’s time to wake up today!
“But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into” Matthew 24:43
There’s no sleeping on the job. Be ever ready. One thing about all of these scriptures is that they all speak of the need to be prepared. To be ready for the return of the Son of man is no easy task—it takes a lifetime, I would assume! In verse 43 it says if a man knew he would be robbed he would be alert and ready for the thief. As a Christian, I know God is
coming back, and even with that knowledge I know I do not always put forth the best effort in readying myself for His arrival. In verses 24:37-44 it says: “Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left.” Which person do I want to be the one left behind or the one he takes with him? If God were to come today am I confident that I would be with him? It brings home the importance of living right. God has not asked for a lot, only our obedience and care for all he has given us and in return the benefits of sticking with Him are far greater than anything else. Am I preparing daily for his return?
Prayer Let me live, O God, as though tomorrow may not arrive.
