Reflection We’ve been exposed in recent months to many calls to repentance. It’s been quite
a clamor. Politicians and media personalities, among others, have all tried to win our allegiance to their understanding of how we are to respond the difficult circumstances we face. In a time of real betrayal by institutions and leaders we trusted, we are understandably suspicious. We are also vulnerable. Anger and anxiety tempt us to knee-jerk reactions. So how do we make good choices? Neither ranting nor retreating are helpful. Thorough reflection followed by congruent action IS. It is exactly when conditions within us and around us are least conducive to reflection that we need to take special care to provide regular time for it in our daily lives.
