Psalm 25:4-5ab, 8-9, 10 and 14 Luke 1:57-66
Reflection
“God has chosen to need men and women in every age to reveal his love, to make known the reality of the Incarnation.” (SHCJ Constitutions)
This very first sentence in our SHCJ Constitutions is the key to the readings of today. Malachi speaks of the messengers God chooses to prepare the people for the coming of God into their lives and Luke tells the story of the birth of John the Baptist – the one chosen to prepare the way for the coming of Christ.
Cornelia had a deep understanding of the Incarnation — the mystery of God the Son made human to save us. As Sisters of the Holy Child Jesus we strive daily to deepen our own understanding of the incarnation so that we can fulfill the mission of the Society: “to help others to believe that God lives and acts in them and in our world, and to rejoice in the divine presence.” In living out this mission we are the messengers God chooses in our own time.
