Believe in Young People

The charity helps young people move towards the best career for them by connecting their skills and behaviours to the working world

Your dream hospitality career By working with blue-chip employers like Costa, Hilton Worldwide, Premier Inn, Babylon, Jurys Inn and Mitchells & Butlers, UK charity Believe in Young People (BiYP) instils a belief in young people and enables them to reach their true potential by progressing their skills and behaviours from Year 7 onwards, preparing them for a suitable and rewarding career. In 2014/15, BiYP’s impact with

young people included a 25% increase in careers fit for future jobs plus a 32% improvement in skills and behaviours with suitable jobs and apprenticeships secured. Through the BiYP integrated

programme, young people from the age of 11 can explore and improve their skills and behaviours through a variety of real-life, work-based experiences. They can also receive career advice and guidance via the BiYP website (www.biyp.org) and take part in employer-led visits, workshops and events, work-related lesson plans and structured work experience with the potential to lead to an apprenticeship or employment. Tanja Kuveljic, chief executive at BiYP,

says: “With our employer and school partners, we give young people the best possible opportunity to be employed in a suitable role which maximises their potential and ultimately reduces youth unemployment.

“By challenging traditional methods

of career education, community engagement and recruitment, we’ve created a new approach to youth employment, leading to a brighter economic future. “Mapping their communication,

organisational and problem-solving skills, as well as their drive and ability to work with others, enables each young person to be work-ready,giving them the best opportunity for long- term employment.”

“Seven out of 10 students on the BiYP pilot felt they were more prepared for employment as a result of the programme”

Welcome to the real world BiYP’s work experience placements provided Whitbread with an alternative apprentice recruitment method, resulting in a potential 80% cost reduction. “For the academic year 2015/16
