Unconscious Child


Step 4. Once both electrode pads are in place the AED will begin to analyse the child’s heart rhythm. Ensure no one is touching the child during analysis.


Step 5. Shock advised – If a shock is advised, make sure everyone is clear of the child and push the flashing shock button to deliver the life saving shock of electricity. Follow the prompts from the AED and continue delivering CPR.


No shock advised – If no shock is advised, follow the prompts from the AED and continue delivering CPR.


Step 6. Continue with CPR for two minutes.


Step 7. After two minutes the AED will re-analyse the child’s heart rhythm to see if a shock needs to be delivered or not.


This sequence of two minutes of CPR then analysis will continue until professional help arrives.
