Marine Hotel Association (MHA) Conference & Trade Show

More than 230 companies
attended the Peabody Hotel, Orlando, for the 27th annual North American conference from MHA.
There was a golf tournament, a Marrackech- themed gala dinner and a fun-filled farewell party at Orlando restaurant Opa – and delegates at the cruise catering and supply show still found time to talk shop! There were around 50 new exhibitors – a
record number in fact – with 35 companies having become MHA members in the past year. The show kicked off with its famously social golf tournament, sponsored each year by
MillerCoors. Keen sports men and women braved Florida’s unusually inclement weather and teed-off prior to the welcome reception. The next morning really kicked off business, with a sponsored breakfast from the J.M. Smucker Company, a warm welcome from MHA President, Alvin Dennis of Norwegian Cruise Line and a keynote speech from Karl Holts of Disney Cruise Line. Later on in the show came a keynote speech from Paul DePodesta, New York Mets vp of player development and scouting and the subject of the Hollywood film MoneyBall. Other highlights included a silent auction. The show had a wide range of representatives including purveyors of amenities, gifts, duty free, equipment and supplies, food, beverages, information technology, logistics and transportation services, textiles, furnishings and barware. Delegates ranged from cruise lines to ship operators as well as ship chandlers and marine hotel management.
