EVA Air adds onboard wifi to its offering
EVA Air is to provide inflight mobile and wifi communications onboard its new Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.
This new service will be made available on the new aircraft in 2014, making EVA Air the first airline in Taiwan to secure approval for its passengers to make mobile phone calls and use wifi inflight.
The seven Boeing 777-300ER aircraft will be equipped with the Panasonic eX3 in-flight entertainment system and a GCS (Global Communications Suite), making them the first aircraft of their kind to combine both technologies on assembly.
The GCS service will enable passengers to make mobile phone calls, browse the internet and use their own personal, wifi-enabled mobile phones, tablets or laptops to read and send e-mails from the comfort of their own aircraft seats.

Recaro lies back ONBOARD FITTINGS
Seat specialist Recaro has showcased a new style of Business seating which combines a slightly reclining seat with an adjoining lie- flat space alongside.
One of the leaders in Economy seating, the Business offering is based on a completely new concept which does away with complex seat recline mechanisms and instead provides a permanent, fully-cushioned lie-flat area in addition to the seat.
Each seat has direct aisle access too and while the seat appears to take up more space ceo Mark Hiller insists it is in fact more space efficient than existing concepts. The company has also launched a new long-haul Economy seat which it aims to offer with a seat pitch of 29in. New features include a neck support on the headrest and flush armrests. Recaro modified its CL3620 Economy seat on Qatar's Boeing 787s last year so the armrests now retract completely.
