IPAD STREAMING FOR QANTAS PASSENGERS Sitting pretty with Qantum


 Qantas’ new Q-Streaming service has equipped every seat on Qantas’ B767 aircraft with an iPad to give passengers access to over 200 hours of content, streamed from an onboard server. Passengers who own an iPad, laptop or smartphone will also eventually be able to view the same material through a separate application onboard.

 Panasonic Avionics has launched a new conceptual 14-inch monitor for Economy integrated into a Quantum Seat by Encore Aerospace. The launch follows a six- month collaboration to create the largest monitor ever featured in Economy. The seat specialist created a thinner bezel design and a new concept of downward collapsible arm rests to allow for the larger display. The Quantum Seat was designed to decrease weight for less fuel burn and to maximize space for passengers. It has a thin design that includes a carbon fibre seatback and pan, a retractable arm, and a hidden raceway that simplifies the installation and maintenance of wire harnesses. The monitor shroud is designed to integrate a wide range of Panasonic monitors in sizes ranging from nine to 14 inches.
