ONBOARD OPERATIONS AMENITY KITS


Formia pioneers for Porsche and Mecca


Amenity kit specialist, FORMIA, has joined with the Porsche Design brand and niche Italian skincare brand, Acca Kappa, for a new amenity kit onboard Turkish Airlines. The luxury hard shell inflight amenity cases, for Business passengers, will include a variety of cosmetics from the Acca Kappa Green Mandarin. It is made from the latest hi-tech ballistic nylon, bonded to produce a practical, durable and rigid case.


Formia md, Roland Grohmann, said: "We have been able to form relationships with some of the world's premier, aspirational brands which allows us to devise unique and superior kits that meet the ongoing drive for improved quality and innovation."


Formia will also supply Korean Air with a new Economy kit which embodies the Korean spirit of hospitality and quality and includes foldable slippers and a retail branded toothpaste in a celadon-blue drawstring bag.


In addition, the company will supply Turkish Airlines with a specially developed bag for Hajj and Umrah pilgrims en route to Mecca. The kit includes items that will be useful during the pilgrimage as well as onboard.


A range of promotional bags and cases for the carrier to use in its marketing activities has also been developed. The items include an iPad bag, tin box and pencil case.


Formia is also working with World Planet, RIMOWA and L'Occitane to supply RIMOWA amenity cases to Thai Airways; and has extended its contract with Air Astana to supply kits for medium haul Business passengers. formia.com


ON THE GROUND ANZ smooths the way


US Customs has approved a new transit system for Air New Zealand passengers arriving in Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) from Auckland or London. On completion of US visa requirements, transiting passengers now receive a transit pass which allows them access to the general terminal, including ANZ’s lounge, without the need to clear security. The airline is continuing to work with airport authorities to further improve the current facilitation process and will relocate from Terminal 2 to the Tom Bradley International Terminal at LAX mid-next year. The terminal is in the midst of a US$1.7bn make-over which will culminate in an 180,000 sqft food and retail experience as well as faster boarding and disembarking systems. Novo wins Alpha Flight Services Contract


UK-based inflight retail expert Novo Ivc is further strengthening its global relationship with Alpha Flight Services with a United Arab Emirates-based contract to supply Air Arabia with onboard POS technology. Novo’s solution will be rolled out across Air Arabia's entire fleet of aircraft this summer. Low-cost carrier Air Arabia offers scheduled services to 82 destinations worldwide including the Middle East, North Africa, The Indian subcontinent, Central Asia and Europe. The system will be comprised of Novo’s flagship SkyPOS software (currently used by 40+ airlines worldwide) and the tried and tested Kestrel hardware platform (also used onboard by British Airways and Virgin Atlantic). The chosen hardware platform has been selected by Alpha Flight Services UAE for its rugged capabilities and proven data reliability statistics. Tim Clifford, Novo’s divisional director said: “Despite the increasing trend towards a connected cabin environment and the use of Android and Apple consumer products onboard, some airlines are still prioritising data reliability over the use of the latest consumer technology. This logic cannot be denied.
