Zodiac loads in more ONBOARD FITTINGS
Zodiac has launched a new overhead bin product designed to meet the growing use of roller bags as hand luggage.
The new ISIS 737 and 757 NG Interiors can be retrofitted to increase stowage capacity for carry-ons by up to 86 roller bags. The storage of carry-on bags is becoming increasingly difficult as growing numbers of passengers opt to take maximum onboard luggage allowances by using this style of bag. The problem is becoming more acute on low-cost carrier aircraft where passengers are charged for hold luggage and have an even greater incentive to maximize their free onboard allowance.
Zodiac also offers an ISIS A320 cabin interior with clamshell pivot bins designed to provide best-in-class loading ergonomics and spaciousness and incorporating lighting options. Zodiac was a finalist in four categories of the 2013 Crystal Cabin awards. See p82.

Whatever the weather ONBOARD OPERATIONS
Panasonic Avionics is to develop real-time weather data collection and forecasting services following a new partnership with weather specialists AirDat.
AirDat’s advanced technology is already used by commercial airlines, governments, energy providers, and commodity investors to model weather forecasts and assist in operational decisions.
It uses a Tropospheric Airborne Meteorological Data Reporting (TAMDAR) sensor, installed on hundreds of commercial aircraft, to collect highly detailed readings from the upper atmosphere each day. Now this data will be transmitted over Panasonic’s global Ku-band aeronautical network and via the Iridium satellite network in real time to the AirDat operations centre for analysis and distribution. Independent studies have found the quality of this data is extremely high and useful for operational planning.
