The Audi Q7 is one of the German manufactures flagship 4x4s. It’s been a staple of our roads since 2006 and whilst the designs may have changed, the quality certainly hasn’t. We tested the Q7 55 TFSI e, the latest hybrid incarnation of the model a great engine matched to a superb automatic gearbox.
Regulars of Car Test will know that we’re fond of hybrids - and this one is no different. The range for a full electric charge is around 28 miles, meaning you can switch between both electric and petrol to make each of them go further. It uses a Lithium-ion battery with a peak output of 100kW - so you can really put it through its paces when using the greener fuel source.
It is hefty but that’s exactly what you want for a medium to large sized family car. The front is spacious, the back can fit multiple occupants comfortably up to seven and especially those needing baby chairs, bikes toys etc. As well as the boot easily holding a week or months worth of shopping. It’s
supremely comfortable inside too - a trademark trait of the Audi brand - and the interior design definitely leans towards the higher end of the car spectrum.
If you’re looking to venture outside the city then Audi’s tried-and-tested four- wheel-drive system will have you covered no matter what the terrain - up to your axels in mud, snow or sand. Or simply dawdling along on country lanes, taking pot holes in its stride, ploughing through puddles with ease or humming along the motorway with intelligent cruise control locked on slowing you down of speeding you up depending on the traffic in front.

We’ve always been a fan of Audis here at Car Test. They have developed an unenviable reputation for producing high-quality 4x4 cars that are reliable, sturdy and exceptionally comfortable. So when asked to review the Audi Q5, we naturally jumped at the opportunity.
As the Q7’s little brother, it is smaller than it’s older counterpart but just as suited to roads and offroad alike. It’s an ideal motor for someone looking for the safety and security of a 4x4 but in a size that makes skipping around the city easy.
The particular model we tested was the 40 TDI quattro S Tronic which can seat up to seven. A stunning interior made for a lovely passenger / driving experience, with plenty of state-of-the-art features to keep even the toughest critics at peace. We were very fond of the wireless phone charging, on-board computer system, cruise control and intelligent sat nav steering

you away from potential queues and hazards - creature comforts that made long and short journeys that much more pleasurable.
Now, onto the road test. It’s a very smooth ride - like most Audis - not just on A and B roads but motorways too. We drove through lanes, across farm tracks up and down permissible bridal ways to see how it would handle the great outdoors - it’s a 4x4 after all - and it met them with gusto, navigating lumps, jumps and bumps with little impact on ride comfort. First class 10/10!
