Banks Long & Co Continue Team Expansion Following Recent Relaunch
Lincolnshire chartered surveyors Banks Long & Co have welcomed 3 new surveyors to their team over the last month, as well as awarding an internal promotion, as the business continues to grow.
This has coincided with the recent relaunch of the company, which introduced 4 specialist divisions: Building & Cost Consultancy, Commercial Property Agency, Development & Investment Consultancy, and Management & Professional Services.
Tim Bradford, Managing Director, says, “Year on year our client base is growing, and demand for our services is increasing. Classifying our 4 divisions, and strengthening them with experienced employees, both current and new, has been a priority for us. We’re delighted to have attracted 3 new highly skilled members of staff in such a short space of time.”
The newly recruited surveyors include Shaun Cook and Charlie Johnson, both of whom are part of the Building & Cost Consultancy team.
Shaun has worked in Property Surveying and Consultancy for over 12 years, and notably was involved in every stage of the development and construction of the International
Bomber Command Centre, Lincoln.
Charlie graduated from Nottingham Trent University in 2011 with a degree in Building Surveying and has since worked across the East Midlands area. His broad experience includes work for a housing association and the National Trust.
Harry Collins has also joined the company whilst in the final stages of completing his degree. Working in the industry and studying the industry at the same time
has given him a
comprehensive insight into the profession, and a clear
vision of how he will progress his career. He aims to sit his Assessment of Professional Competence exam in 2022.
In this, he will be guided by current employee Harriet Hatcher, who has recently been promoted to Senior Surveyor, as well as acting as an APC Mentor, Supervisor and Assessor at Banks Long & Co. She has a degree in Real Estate and has been
working in the property sector in a range of capacities since she was just 14.
Harriet says, “I enjoy the variety of projects I see across the county, and the country, and assisting people in moving forward in whatever way they need to.”
Tim continues, “We’re very pleased to be able to promote Harriet, who is an extremely valuable member of our team, as well as welcome our 3 new employees. Each brings different knowledge and experience, but all bring a commitment and passion to the business and the industry.”
Freshney Place Secures £17m in Government Funding for Grimsby Cinema Development
Capreon, in partnership with North East Lincolnshire Council, secured access to the Government’s Future High Street Fund to help retail recover from the pandemic and transform Grimsby town centre.
The Government approved the funding for new leisure scheme proposals by Capreon and NELC to maximise the benefits for Grimsby.
(Monday 24th May 2021, Grimsby/London): Capreon, the Noé Group’s real estate investment and advisory firm, and the North East Lincolnshire Council (NELC) are pleased to confirm that Grimsby has been awarded a government grant of £17.2m following a joint bid for funding from the Government’s Future High Street Fund (FHSF).
As the asset manager on behalf of the owners of Freshney Place Shopping Centre in Grimsby, Capreon has worked with NELC officers to put together plans for a new leisure scheme to be anchored by a cinema, food and beverage units and a new public square and market.
The scheme will redevelop the Council-owned market site together with part of Freshney Place to create a new hospitality offer for the town. Both Capreon and the Council are confident that the new £30m leisure scheme will bring about transformational change in Grimsby town centre. The intention is for the new leisure offer to be the catalyst for developing an evening economy in the town centre as well as instigating a family friendly entertainment offer for Grimsby.
The Future High Street Fund was launched in December 2018 by the chancellor, Rishi Sunak MP, and housing minister, Robert Jenrick MP. The ministers announced the regions that would be receiving investments in December 2020.
It is a central part of the Government’s renewed effort to support regions in their recovery from the pandemic and help transform under-used town centres into vibrant places to live, work and shop.
New Big Brand Retailers Set to Join The Cornhill Quarter
Lincolnshire Co-op’s £70m redevelopment of The Cornhill Quarter has attracted some major retailers to its mixed-use scheme in the centre of Lincoln. The new signings total 7,100ft², with the overall regeneration anticipated to deliver in excess of 150,000ft² of mixed-use commercial floorspace over a series of development phases.
The most recent of these lettings sees two distinctive brands joining The Cornhill Quarter in the Waterstones building, which is leaving to focus on its sister site on the High Street. A Superdry franchise store will occupy the ground floor and Robert Goddard’s designer clothing store will open on the first floor. Superdry is an exciting contemporary brand which focuses on high-quality products that fuse Vintage Americana and Japanese-inspired graphics with a British style. Robert Goddard, a business established in 1895, offers trusted premium fashion brands, and will be their 7th location in the East of England. These brands also follow several other great signings for the Cornhill Quarter over the last year, including Phase Eight, Hobbs and Whistles and will bring two new unique characters to the city.
Oliver Tookman, CEO, Aldrich Group Ltd said: “Lincoln is definitely a place that has been growing and positively evolving in the last few years and we are delighted to be opening our franchised Superdry store and our very own Robert Goddard in the Cornhill Quarter. We are excited to meet our new customers and deliver the service that we are famous for.”
COMMERCIAL PROPERTY MONTHLY 2021
Ursula Lidbetter, Lincolnshire Co-op’s Chief Executive, commented: “We got feedback that people were keen to see more men’s fashion, so it’s great to welcome these superb new additions to The Cornhill Quarter line up.” “We continue to progress our long-term vision to create a destination for residents and tourists alike, with a carefully considered mix of both big name brands and local retailers, helping to boost the city’s offering for the local community and attracting visitors from further afield.”
Lincolnshire Co-op is undertaking the large-scale regeneration of the city centre. The Cornhill Quarter scheme is rejuvenating a significant area of Lincoln’s retail pitch encompassing Cornhill, Sincil Street and St Mary’s Street, through a sensitive combination of repair, refurbishment, extension and new development. The first phase of the scheme, The Corn Exchange building, has been carefully restored and completed in 2017. Construction works are also complete on the second and third phase of the scheme and the refurbishment of shopfronts on Sincil Street is now underway, expected to be completed this autumn.
In addition, £30m has been invested in related transport infrastructure improvements by the Council and a further £1.5m to enhance the urban realm of the scheme.
Lincolnshire Co-op was represented by Banks Long & Co and KLM, with the tenant represented by McMullen Wilson.
