CBRE’s Retail team has been appointed by Sheffield City Council and its Strategic Delivery Partner, Queensberry, as sole leasing agents for the retail element of the Heart of the City scheme, a £470 million scheme designed to transform Sheffield city centre. Heart of the City is one of Sheffield’s key economic projects and is designed to be a mixed use, vibrant quarter covering 1.5 million square foot of space between Pinstone Street, Barker’s Pool and The Moor. CBRE will lease the retail element which comprises multiple units across a phased delivery. The first phase of new lettings included Swedish fashion brands Monki and Weekday.
Knight Frank’s industrial team has been instructed to market the available, newly- refurbished Parkway Link scheme in Sheffield jointly with Commercial Property Partners (CPP).Following a major investment at the Sheffield business park, around 25,000 sq ft of industrial warehouse accommodation was upgraded for occupation. The renovation programme included new clad elevations, full internal decoration with new LED lighting and refurbished offices. Sheffield freight transport company Cloud9 Fulfilment has already signed up to move into Parkway Link following the upgrade by landlord Mileway as has postal company DDUP International Ltd which relocates from two miles away. Units of 5,662 sq ft, to 6,382 sq ft remain on the park ideal for industrial, warehouse and trade use.
UK-top 200 Yorkshire law firm Keebles LLP has advised Sheffield Business Park on the sale of one of its development sites to a joint venture between Premcor Estates and Peveril Securities. Led by Keebles’ Partner Richard Smith, the firm’s commercial property team acted as legal advisors to Sheffield Business Park on the deal which related to development land known as ‘Phase 4 Sheffield Business Park’, a 17.9-acre site fronting onto Sheffield Parkway at Catcliffe. Outline planning permission for the site was granted for research and development, industrial and storage and distribution uses in 2019. Sheffield Business Park is one of Yorkshire’s largest business parks at over 200 acres and is situated close to the M1 motorway.
A joint venture between UK property development companies Premcor and Peveril Securities has secured its first ever South Yorkshire site with plans for 300,000 sq ft of industrial accommodation. The partnership has bought the 18-acre phase 4 site at Sheffield Business Park – one of the last remaining development opportunities on the 200-acre development – for an undisclosed sum in a deal brokered by Knight Frank and BNP Paribas Real Estate. Subject to planning, Premcor and Peveril will carry out the development of warehouse and industrial units on the park, which forms part of Sheffield City Region’s Advanced Manufacturing Innovation District and fronts onto Sheffield Parkway.

Construction of a new £5m 54,000 sq ft industrial and warehouse development, supported by the nationally recognised Barnsley Property Investment Fund, is underway. Everill Gate Business Park in Wombwell will feature a detached unit of 33,000 sq ft along with two terraces of smaller units ranging in size from 1,740 to 3,190 sq ft available to let and is expected to create around 150 jobs. Developers Mark Holland and Lloyd Nicholson from Everill Gate Properties are investing in the established commercial location which is already home to a mixture of industrial and manufacturing occupiers including Cranswick Convenience Food, Freshpak Chilled Foods, LNS Turbo and Coal Regeneration Trust. Rebecca Schofield, partner and head of the Yorkshire industrial team at Knight Frank, which is marketing the development on Everill Gate Lane, said: “The council’s Property Investment Fund has helped a number of schemes come forward. The council continues to work proactively with agents and commercial property developers to stimulate speculative high quality industrial developments across the borough, to ensure that a pipeline of new premises is available to occupiers looking for space in the area.”
Stretton Property Group has successfully secured outline planning consent for over 720,000 sq ft of prime industrial opportunities at Interchange Park, J1 of the M18 in Rotherham, South Yorkshire. The development has the capacity to create over 1,000 regional jobs. The planning consent granted to Stretton Property Group from Rotherham Council will bring forward a new logistics warehouse development to address chronic regional shortages of prime, Grade A industrial accommodation to meet the continued high levels of demand across the sector. Stretton has appointed the industrial agency teams at CBRE and M1 to market the scheme.
