Blacks Solicitors Scores a Try With the Sale of Red Hall House
Prime 110,000 Sq Ft at Wakefield
The Leeds offices of leading property consultancies Knight Frank and Avison Young have been instructed to market a substantial 109,275 sq ft warehouse, located off Junction 40 of the M1 in Wakefield.
Red Hall House
The Rugby Football League (RFL) has announced the sale of its head office, Red Hall House, near Roundhay Park in Leeds, after 26 years at the premises.
Red Hall House was purchased for over £1.65 million by Dr Faisal Arshad, Lead Surgeon at the Hair Dr Hair Transplant Clinic, in order to establish a private cosmetic surgery hospital.
On purchasing the premises, Dr Arshad commented: “The Hair Dr Clinic is expanding quickly and we have outgrown our current premises. The majestic Grade II Red Hall, close to the new East Leeds Orbital Route, is absolutely perfect and it is humbling to be moving into such a magnificent building with such an illustrious history.”
The Commercial Property team at Blacks Solicitors advised the RFL on the sale of its head office ahead of a relocation to Sport City at the Etihad Campus in Manchester. Blacks was chosen thanks to the longstanding relationship with the RFL, and the excellent service provided by the Commercial Property team.
Global property consultancy Knight Frank advised the RFL in relation to the disposal of the property.
The property, which forms part of the larger Park 40 development on Flanshaw Way, is currently occupied by Card Factory on a short-term lease, which expires in the summer.
Iain McPhail, partner and head of the Knight Frank’s industrial team in Leeds, commented: “Due to the lack of existing warehouse stock on the market in West Yorkshire, specifically above 100,000 sq ft, there is currently a strong demand for this type of property”
“Wakefield is a logistics and distribution hotspot, thanks to its superb position at the centre of Yorkshire’s excellent motorway network and proximity to large labour pools”.
Rob Oliver, principal at Avison Young, added: “The property’s excellent location, less than a mile from Junction 40 of the M1 and close to Wakefield city centre, combined with flexible lease terms should prove very attractive”.
The warehouse is available on new lease terms to be agreed. To arrange an inspection, please contact the joint agents Knight Frank and Avison Young.
Flourishing Ex-Emmerdale Welcomes a Raft of New Businesses
John Gaunt, joint managing director of Edwin Woodhouse and Co Ltd, the family company which owns Sunny bank Mills, commented: “These are very exciting new lettings for us – and we are absolutely delighted at the range of businesses who are now joining us at Sunny Bank Mills. They broaden our appeal and provide wonderful new facilities for everyone who works at the mill and who lives in Farsley.”
An exciting range of new retail and leisure businesses are opening at the award- winning Sunny Bank Mills in Farsley, as the national lockdown eases.
These businesses include the Amity Brew Co, Beckett and Beckett Interiors, Farsley Fire and Smoke and Anahata Yoga.
The iconic mill complex, where Yorkshire Television’s Emmerdale and Heartbeat were filmed, has been transformed into one of West Yorkshire’s leading mixed-use destinations.

He explained: “There is now genuine optimism at Sunny Bank Mills as we emerge from lockdown. I see the spirit of the local people and businesses reflected in these new lettings. There is a determination to seize opportunities and to emerge stronger and undefeated.
“I am full of admiration for the likes of Amity Brew Co, Beckett and Beckett, Farsley Fire and Smoke and Anahata Yoga for opening business at Sunny Bank Mills in the most difficult of circumstances. If we can continue to attract people like this, there is a bright future for Sunny Bank Mills.”
Sunny Bank Mills is currently home to 91 tenants, with around 400 staff.
