Yorkshire Counties Onward Holdings Open to Offers for New Logistics Facility
As the impact of the coronavirus pandemic subsides, more businesses will be seeking to make up lost ground by fixing their disrupted supply chains and securing a high-quality logistics facility in a prime location of the type that has been put on the market by commercial property specialist Onward Holdings Ltd.
Family-run company Onward is open to offers for a unit on the sought- after Normanton Industrial Estate in Wakefield that offers approximately 24,585sqft of warehouse space, with significant office accommodation, on the doorstep of the M62 motorway and with a generous private yard area for truck manoeuvrability to facilitate a steady flow of goods.
Onward has invested in general improvements at the Ripley Close property, both internally and externally including re-sheeting of the front elevation
and upgrading of the main entrance and reception areas. The site is available to lease and additional work will be considered to suit an occupier’s requirements.
The warehouse areas are split into two comprising around 6,072sqft and 15,630sqft of floor space, 6m to the eaves with two ground level doors. Site security is provided by palisade fencing, security gates and fully monitored CCTV. The fourth-generation family-run business operates high quality industrial warehousing. Its sites include Castleford, Doncaster, Ackworth, Scunthorpe and Featherstone. Onward Holdings also built Onyx Retail Park, the successful shopping and eating destination on the former Manvers colliery in South Yorkshire. Promotion of the unit on Ripley Close is handled by Andrew Miller Chartered Surveyors of Sheffield.
SGI to Build 66,859 Sq Ft Office Scheme in Sheffield
Real estate developer Scarborough Group International (SGI) is set to start work on the final phase at the acclaimed Sheffield Digital Campus (Sheffield DC). This commitment currently represents the biggest speculative office development in Sheffield city centre where the supply of modern, grade A workspace is extremely limited.
Designed by award winning architects CJCT and being constructed by GMI Construction, ‘Endeavour’ is an impressive new eight-storey, c. 67,000 sq ft, Grade A office building offering highly-efficient floorplates of up to 10,592 sq ft. A private 630 sq ft roof terrace on the 6th floor is also included to overlook the combined railway and bus station and the iconic Park Hill Flats.
Due to be delivered in Spring, 2022, it is the final of four visually impressive buildings on the Sheffield DC site. Electric Works, Ventana House and Acero have all been successfully let and subsequently sold to investors with high profile occupiers including Sky, Kennedy’s, Michael Page and Atkins and the flex-office workspace provider Spaces.
Endeavour will provide premium workspace offering flexible open plan floor plates, capable of subdivision to suit a variety of business space requirements. The building has been designed to create a welcoming and impressive sense of arrival with a double height entrance reception and social space allowing visitors and colleagues to interact.
In light of the potential impact that the pandemic may have on the future use of workspace, the design of Endeavour has been modified in response to accelerated trends for making the office environment a safer place to work with smart building integration and reduced touch points, also appreciating the increasing prevalence of agile working.
The development, which has a GDV of £27m, will create up to 140 construction jobs and house up to 800 office workers when complete and is a major vote of confidence in Sheffield city centre, where the supply of existing and pipeline office space has diminished, leaving a major shortage of space to cater to existing and future demand.
Onward Holdings Seeks to Expand Warehouse Portfolio
Commercial property specialist Onward Holdings Ltd is actively looking to add to its portfolio of industrial units in Yorkshire as the demand for warehouse space intensifies across the UK driven by the growth of the e-commerce sector.
There has been significant investment by the local, family-run business in the region’s warehouse facilities, substantially modernising a distribution unit at the sought-after logistics hub of Cross Green Industrial Estate in Leeds, as well as the recent construction of Phoenix 66 on the Green Lane Industrial Estate in Featherstone and refurbishment of Normanton 108 in Wakefield.
Onward Holdings Director, Neil Storey, says the company’s planned investments in more new sites for creating logistics hubs will benefit the region, bringing a much-needed jobs boost and business opportunities. He added: We are actively seeking properties, and land in prime locations suitable for development, in Yorkshire to add to our portfolio.”
All the signs point to continuing high demand for prime logistics facilities, driven by the shift from bricks-and-mortar to e-commerce operations as more people switch to online shopping. Onward is on the hunt for more commercial sites in the Yorkshire region to accommodate the need of businesses looking for a foothold in the north of England.
Yorkshire’s major motorway network makes it a gateway to UK markets and beyond. Places like Featherstone offer easy reach of the northern container ports, Doncaster Airport and the railway freight network via the nearby Wakefield Europort. Around 80% of the UK’s population is accessible in four hours, making the region ideal for distribution operations.
The fourth-generation family-run business operates high quality industrial warehousing. Its sites include Castleford, Doncaster, Ackworth, Scunthorpe and Featherstone. Onward Holdings also built Onyx Retail Park, the successful shopping and eating destination on the former Manvers colliery in South Yorkshire.
