On 1st April 2021, West Northamptonshire Council (WNC), a new Unitary authority, began delivering local government services for Daventry, Northampton and South Northamptonshire. WNC is dedicated to supporting the community and growing the local economy, making the area a great place to live, work, visit and thrive.

Northampton town centre is the subject of a major regeneration initiative, pumping £33.5M of Government funds (Future High Street and Towns Fund) into a range of projects and the Town Centre Vision for Daventry has just been prepared, plotting its course to 2035 and providing several development opportunities.
Given the location of West Northants, with the M1 running through, (Stansted and Birmingham Airports nearby) and London and Birmingham only an hour away by train, its infrastructure makes it a prime location for development. The area has been the subject of major housing developments through a number of Sustainable Urban Extensions (SUEs) and further SUEs are planned. WNC prioritises business support and is delivering targeted programmes to upskill residents to return to employment, nurture start-up and scale-up businesses, as well as working in partnership with employers to overcome the challenges of COVID-19 and realise opportunities for stabilisation and growth.
This area is a hot bed of activity in terms of new developments and inward investment, with sites across the area being constructed to create more jobs and attract new employers. Major sites include; DIRFT (Prologis), APEX PARK (Prologis), Silverstone Park (MEPC), Northampton Gateway (SEGRO), Northampton Cross (Firestone Trust) and the Waterside Enterprise Zone.
