JPG Completes Major Logistics Project at Goole 36

JPG Group has successfully completed engineering consultancy works for logistics developer Tritax Symmetry delivering the first phase of a major new development at Goole 36 Enterprise Zone.

The full civil and structural engineering project incorporated infrastructure works and drainage for the site as well as structural engineering for the construction of a 232,150 sq ft distribution warehouse that will be occupied by Croda Europe Ltd. The speciality chemicals manufacturer is to use the facility as its Customer Excellence Centre, distributing products made at the company’s UK manufacturing sites as well as the European delivery of products made across its global network.

JPG is already familiar with the location having consulted over many years on the delivery of the adjacent 305-acre Capitol Park, a major distribution hub success story for developer Sterling Capitol.

Chris Harding, Managing Director at JPG Group said “We are delighted to complete our second project with Tritax Symmetry following successful delivery on the first phase £100 million logistics building at Symmetry Park Darlington. We have now also been retained for phase two proposals.

This project presented a number of technical challenges, both associated with the geotechnical properties of the site and also the operational requirements of Croda Europe”

Freddie Oakey, Associate Development Director at Tritax Symmetry, which is the dedicated logistics development company of Tritax Big Box REIT plc, said “We were pleased to work with JPG as a valued partner on this regionally significant project. JPG’s knowledge of the regional landscape is considerable, and we hope to maintain a continued relationship as we strategically move to increase our investments across Yorkshire.”

cutting and welding will

also be undertaken at the facility, demonstrating how integral the port group is to post-COVID economic recovery across the UK.

Humber Free Port

The Humber region is an ideal location for a new UK Freeport thanks to its superb multi-modal transport infrastructure, its first- class labour force and its supply of high-quality development land, according to leading Yorkshire developers Sterling Capitol.

Mike Heydecke, chief executive of Sterling Capitol, commented: “The granting of Freeport status is a game-changer for the Humber region. More specifically, it is the final piece in the jigsaw of the regeneration of Goole.”

The Humber Ports bid, encompassing ports of Grimsby, Immingham, Hull and Goole, was brought forward by Associated British Ports (ABP), the Humber LEP and the Greater Lincolnshire LEP.

It was backed by the Humber Unitary Leaders Group of Hull City Council, East Riding of Yorkshire Council, North Lincolnshire, Siemens and North East Lincolnshire councils.

“The Humber bid had our fullest support,” explained Mr Heydecke. “Sterling Capitol has invested in the region since 2003, when we first opened Capitol Park Goole by Junction 36 of the M62. The park, which sits within an enterprise zone, currently has outline planning consent for an employment unit of up to 550,000 sq ft with an unparalleled presence next to the motorway.”

He commented: “The Goole region is the ideal location to house a freeport – given the existing transport infrastructure, land for the expansion of existing or development of brand new industries, as well as our expertise in ports and logistics”.
