08 HYPER TAILORING THE EXPERIENCE WITH AI AND ML

M&E must use data leveraging AI and ML to power personalised content recommendations and improved search and discovery. “We are hyper tailoring the experience to the individual level,” Robert Gelick, Chief roduct ffi cer aramount told a Showcase Theatre session. “The discovery experience is essential to make sure people coming in are exposed to something unique. But it’s not just the content. People are also looking for next-level responsiveness and reliability as part of the product experience.” Paramount+ now has 43.3 million paid customers, a net add of 3.7 million for the last quarter, and will be in 60 markets by the end of 2022. It is powered by Google

There is a vast array of content available to consumers. The big problem is that it is harder to fi nd. The reality is that consumers have infi nitely more power than the media companies that provide content.”

He added: “Google’s mission

here today,” Gelick said. “Some of that is directly based on a user stating what they want, some on sophisticated ML models to surface the right content.” Paramount is, of course, home to the Star Trek franchise which has spawned concepts such as the metaverse-like Holodeck. “I like to think Trek has shaped technology far beyond Paramount,” Gelick said. “If I could teleport home after the conference that would be great.”

AI TAKES DIALOG TO THE CLEANERS Lynx Technik BY DAVID FOX

Lynx Technik’s yellobrik Instant Dialog Cleaner (IDC 1411) uses AI from Audionamix to help isolate speech and dialogue by removing complex background noise, improving speech quality in real time.

Xperi/Vewd BY ANNE MORRIS

Xperi and Vewd are exhibiting ointly at  for the fi rst time since the two companies announced their merger in July 2022. Xperi acquired the global

provider of OTT and hybrid TV solutions for $109 million. Gabriel Cosgrave, General Manager, EMEA, Australia and New Zealand at Xperi, told IBC Daily that the move establishes the group as a major independent streaming media platform through its TiVo brand and the largest independent provider of smart

TV middleware globally. “We’re now in full integration mode,” Cosgrave said, noting that this could take up to around a year. In the meantime, the combined group has already been launching new products, such as the Vewd OpX for Android TV Operator Tier. The service has been deployed by US operator Evoca for the delivery of its

next-gen TV service. Xperi also recently announced the launch of its independent media platform, TiVo OS. Consumer electronics provider estel will ship the fi rst smart TVs ‘powered by TiVo’ in Europe beginning in 2023. 5.C31

It can be used as a pre-stage for speech recognition or subtitle generation, or for general speech clarity improvement for people with hearing impairments. The IDC 1411 incorporates powerful deep neural networks (DNN) AI technology from Audionamix and resolves many audio challenges that arise in broadcast and professional AV environments.

The IDC 141 analyses audio and removes background noises in real time, whether road and air traffi c natural sounds music or other ambient noises. This audio cleaning process separates the dialogue and speech from the noises, providing a crisp audio signal that only contains the spoken word. The AI technology

automatically detects the voice regardless of surrounding noises and preserves the integrity of the dialogue.

It is especially useful for live

broadcasts, recording, editing and mixing audio from noisy broadcast and AV environments, such as commentators reporting in a noisy stadium or journalists reporting from outdoor settings. The IDC 1411 is supported by the new yellobrik RCT 1012 rack controller, enabling monitoring, parameter adjustment and third-party automation via an Ethernet network or VPN, from any workstation. 10.A10
