Facility & Aircraft Familiarization
Some aircraft have remotes that can control the cabin lighting, window shades as well as the entertainment choices i.e. music, videos, DVD's, etc.
Majority of corporate aircraft have the “Airshow” program, Gulfstream refers to it as “Cabin View”. This program displays the location, speed, altitude, miles from destination and routing of your aircraft while in-flight.
Beautiful, topographical maps combined with geopolitical borders, city names and points-of- interest give you a detailed display of your present location. These maps display the aircraft in a variety of angles or “views”, relative to the rest of the world.
It is not only enjoyed by the passengers but a tremendous tool for you while working inflight as it shows “time to destination” and other pertinent information such as destination information (local time), distance and in some cases weather.

iphone There are three main types of inflight phones:
1: JET PHONE/SKYPHONE: This is an analog system that is limited to line of sight in the continental USA only and unfortunately, has many non-service areas.
2: MAGNISTAR: This is a digital system limited to the continental USA only. This is the most popular because of its cost and clarity and almost complete coverage.
3: SATCOM: This is the means of communicating around the world via satellites. The antennas of an aircraft are controlled by a computer that is linked to the aircraft's navigation system so they are always pointed to an active satellite somewhere in the world. Although the system is expensive, it's the best way to communicate.
For example on the Gulfstream 650 to place a call: The Aircell Handset:
can be used to call between the galley and cockpit or to place an Iridium or an Inmarsat call off the aircraft.
The AirCell Axxcess main screen appears in the handset phone display. All instructions start from this screen.
To place an Iridium call: From the main screen enter 9 + country code + number + SND
