• Immigration - This government agency is concerned with the movement of people and their citizenship. Immigration requires the completion of Landing Cards accompanied by a Passenger Manifest. Each country has their own immigration forms.


• Customs - This government agency is concerned with items carried in by both passengers and crew. Each country has their own requirements for the entrance of goods free of Duty and imposes a Duty (tax) for goods that exceed the maximum allowable and accompanying forms.


• Agriculture - This government agency is concerned with restricting the importation of plant, animal or food which could be a source of disease or infestation.


U.S. INTERNATIONAL ARRIVALS/PASSENGERS Customs Declaration


All articles acquired abroad and in your possession at the time of your return must be declared. The back of the Customs form is very specific concerning these requirements. You can also go online for more information:


www.cbp.gov - Customs and Border Patrol. www.fws.gov - Admissible non-food and animal products. www.aphis - Regulates importation of fruits, vegetables and edible animal products.


U.S. INTERNATIONAL ARRIVALS/FLIGHT ATTENDANT RESPONSIBILITY


As a crewmember it is extremely important to be cooperative with all agencies and inspectors you have contact with especially during the clearing of the aircraft into the U.S.


Prior to Landing you must separate certain items for removal off the aircraft that have been identified as possible sources of contamination. These items include:


• All fresh meat, cooked or raw, excluding smoked. • All fruit. • All vegetables. • All plant material, including fresh flowers. • Soft cheeses. • Milk and cream products.


All of these items will need to be double bagged (to


prevent leakage) and let the inspector make the decision about removal. If possible try not to remove the bag through the cabin. All other garbage is to be treated as you normally would.
