Many football teams are co-operatives, meaning they are owned by their fans. Examples of co-operative teams are Cork City FC and Bayern Munich.
The members of a consumer co-operative are the people who want to buy or access its goods or services (e.g. food or housing).
Consumer co-operatives buy goods from manufacturers in bulk so that members can buy them at competitive prices.
The service offered by a consumer co-operative may be a financial one. For example, credit unions are a type of consumer co-operative, where loans are given to members at reasonable rates.
An example of a producer co-operative is the Dublin Food Co-op.
Worker Co-operative The members of a worker co-operative are the people who work in the business.
For example, if a workplace is closing down the workers may pool their finances to buy and run it, allowing them to keep their jobs.
